Chloe Bruce: World Kickboxing Champion and Guinness World Record Holder
Reveals her Success Mantra "Never Stop Chasing your Dreams!"
Chloe Bruce is an exceptionally talented martial artist, World Kickboxing
Champion, a model, style icon, spokesperson, television and film star, a brand
ambassador, qualified martial arts instructor, qualified SPA rock climber,
qualified PADI divemaster, weapons expert and fight and show choreographer. She
is Guinness World Record Holder for most amount of kicks in 1 minute. She is in
conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have learned Tang Soo Do and hold a 4th degree black belt
and has also been trained in Xtreme Martial arts. You reached the pinnacle of
success on becoming the WKA World Champion in Korean Traditional forms, Musical
Open hand and Musical Weapons 1996-1999. What factors you consider were
responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: I have always had a highly competitive personality, not only
against other people, but also with myself. I love to set challenges, goals and
targets and no matter how tough the journey, I won't stop until I reach them. I
also have the most supportive family who have been my rock. They support me with
everything I do, and I definitely wouldn't be where I am today without their
continued love and support.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your trademark "scorpion kick" that is
considered as the most dangerous splits one has ever seen. How it has been of
help in your fighting style that gave you the winning edge in your fights?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: My scorpion kick is a great trade mark and one in which I am
extremely proud of. As it attacks from behind and over the head, no one ever
expects it. So it's definitely a great move to give me that winning edge! I have
even used it in fight choreography and if you look closely in the end fight
scene between Gamora and Nebula in Hollywoods 'Guardians of the Galaxy' you may
just see my trade mark in there!!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: In 2009 you captured the Guinness World record for most kicks
in 1 minute, that stands at 212 kicks.Tell us about this experience and
achievement of yours?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: This was, and still is, one of my greatest achievements. That
feeling of being on top of the World is second to none and to get a record with
something that means so much to me (kicking) is just incredible.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout
routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: I do a lot of leg workouts and conditioning. Things like squats
and high intensity training I love. I.e - high impact kicks for 1 minute, and
rest for 30 seconds, then do around 8 sets of them. Then change exercise and do
the same scenario. Other things I love to add into my workout is skipping,
lunges, box jumps to really work on not only the strength and power, but speed
also.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you
follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: I don't have a specific diet, however I try to eat clean and
organic. The last few years I've really been researching into what's best for
the body and so fruit and veg has become a part of my normal everyday life now
without fail. I will never eat fast food or processed food either. I also like
to make green juices as much as I can to really fuel my body with as much
goodness as possible.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding
martial artist girls who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you,
what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in field of women
martial art style of professional fighting?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: If there are young girls out there or women who want to try
their hand in martial arts or any combat sport, then I would say give it a go!
It will make you a much stronger women, give you more self confidence, and bring
you out of your comfort zones, which I believe are so important in today's
world. Especially being a women, sometimes we feel more vulnerable, but if you
just know in the back of your mind that you know how to handle any situation to
the best of your ability then that alone is a great
achievement to get out of the sport. Never stop chasing your dreams!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: In 2004 you won the US Open Championships, Gold Medal in Orlando, USA. Tell us about this special winning encounter?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: This tournament was a special tournament to me as it was my
first ever attempt at competing in the US Open. I was a 'no-body' out there and
really didn't have anything to lose. So when I won I was just over the moon! I
think I was the first non-American to win in absolute years!! I got so much
respect from everyone there and was also picked up represent one of the top
American Teams out there at the time. Team Straight Up.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have worked in number of films, namely Thor 2 The Dark
World, Kick Ass 2, World War Z, Clash of the Titans 2, Pirates of the Caribbean
4, Harry Potter, John Carter of Mars, Double Zero and The Purifiers. Which have
been your most memorable experience and share with us the same?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: Out of all the movies I have worked on, my most memorable to
date have to be Thor 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I had a lot to do on both
of these and were heavily involved from beginning to end. Both Jaimie Alexander
(Sif, Thor 2) and Zoe Saldana (Gamora, Guardians of the Galaxy) were amazing
women to work alongside. Both roles were really physical and demanding and I had
an incredible time on both movies.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us how did you feel before and after winning WKA World
Champion in Korean Traditional forms, Musical Open hand and Musical Weapons in
1996?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: This was my first world championships. I was 13 years old and
unheard of at the time. I had my parents with me and they were so so proud! I
remember going through to the finals in gold medal position and my parents
saying, "just go out there, put on a show and do your best." That's all they
asked of me. I had no pressure, although in my heart I wanted to win. I gave it
my absolute all and I remember the whole stadium standing up on their feet to
acknowledge my win. It was incredible. No feeling has ever quite matched how
proud and blessed I felt standing on the podium with everyone on their feet
singing the BRITISH National anthem for me, seeing my parents there in tears of
happiness! It was absolutely priceless.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your greatest influencer and motivator in your
success in the field of your career in competitive women Martial arts?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: My biggest inspiration was an older student and instructor in
my school, called Nikki Berwick. Nikki was already at the top when I started
training, and I just knew I wanted to be like her. She then started performing
and doing stunts when I was around 15/16 years old and I was set that I'd love
to follow in her foot steps if it was possible. She is still in the movie
industry today and has been such a big influence on my career and job.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are world leading and most recognised female martial
artist, model, style icon, spokesperson, television and film star, a brand
ambassador, qualified martial arts instructor, qualified SPA rock climber,
qualified PADI divemaster, weapons expert and fight & show choreographer. How
you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Chloe Bruce: It can be tough, but at the same time it's one of the best
feelings. I'm quite fortunate as I believe I have the best of both worlds.
Within martial arts and at martial arts events I get a taste of that celebrity
lifestyle by having photos and signing autographs constantly... To being at home
and in everyday life being able to enjoy my life because the normal public don't
have a clue as to who I am. The down part is that I don't get to be at home with
my family as much as I'd like to. But if I work hard now, earlier
on in life, then hopefully I can retire sooner and enjoy the future with them in
the best possible way. In general I have no complaints... Life could be a lot
worse. I am lucky to be able to have a career whereby I can practice my hobby
day in, day out :)
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and
