Maddy King: Top Australian Model Reveals her Diet, Fitness and Beauty Secrets
Australian
model Maddy King is 5 8 in height with hazel color eyes and brown colored
hairs. She has worked for world leading brands since the age of 14 years.
Maddy King is world leading and highly accomplished model. She is in
conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your journey that took you to where you are now
in the world of modelling?
Ms. Maddy King: My first modelling job was at 14 when I won a combined Super and
Dolly competition and was featured in Dolly magazine. After finishing boarding
school at 18, I started doing a few modelling jobs for friends and through
recommendations. I was advised to join an agency but after going to a few
castings and jobs I decided the modelling world was not for me. The agency I
joined was mainly for high fashion models, size 6-8. My body is naturally a size
10 and I seem to always fluctuate back to this.
At age 21, a lady at work told me to give it one more try. As I was saving money
to go overseas, I listened and joined a commercial agency. Straight away I got
some amazing jobs and decided to give it another go.
I had found a niche in the modelling world that suited me and my body. I could
eat and exercise in a healthy way and not feel bad that I wasn't very skinny.
Commercial modelling is what I love, It involves work for advertising,
lifestyle, health, fitness, sports, fashion, catalog and everything in between.
It uses models that are healthy, natural and that people can relate too.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your inspiration and motivation that led you to
your success in the world of modelling ?
Ms. Maddy King: There have been many models who I always thought were not only
beautiful but are inspirational. I grew up seeing Megan Gale as the face of
David Jones, she always had a beautiful natural physique, she was confident in
herself, down to earth and women all over the country were able to relate to
her.
The models like Megan Gale, Robyn Lawley, Kate Upton give the industry a
wonderful angle. They are beautiful, have curves and are proud of their bodies.
Their bodies fluctuate and I love this! Its real and its natural.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your workout regime ?
Ms. Maddy King: Exercising is a big part of my life. It makes me feel happy and
more energised. I try and walk every day, at a good pace and for at least an
hour a day, Ill try run once or twice a week either around my area or at the
beach.
If I'm feeling tired I will make my walk to a destination, so to the post office
or to the shops, this makes it feel less of a workout and more incidental
exercise. I like to mix up my training to keep in interesting. Ill try do a
Pilates and yoga session once a week, I do my own workout sessions in the gym or
at home with weights or using body weight. I do exercises Ive learnt at
Pilates, in PT sessions or by using videos online.
I also bike ride, my boyfriend Kris bought me a bike last Summer, we try and get
out on these as much as we can, a ride down to Bondi Beach followed by a swim
and vegetable juice is a perfect morning!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you
follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Maddy King: I don't follow a special diet or strict menu. I'm currently
studying nutritional medicine, this will qualify me as a nutritionist next year
when I finish. I try to eat healthy most of the time, foods that are not too
processed. If it was recently living then I'll probably eat it. Lots of
vegetables, legumes, protein - mainly fish or chicken, fruit, whole grains and a
little dairy, mainly goats yogurt. Its all about balance.
There are always times where you can't eat healthy such as celebrations, outings
or you just want a treat. My trick is not to feel guilty after. You should enjoy
these meals and just eat better at your next meals or exercise a little harder
next session. If I want to eat something like chocolate, I will! But I try to be
healthy doing it, there are lots of yummy chocolates and sweets from the health
food store that don't have all the nasties!
If I know I have a job coming up where I have to get into something tight or
revealing I will cut down on my sugar, even from fruits and I up my exercise.
In the end no matter what you do, what supplement you take, its energy in versus
energy out.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you do any treatments or take supplements to keep your
skin glowing and your hair gorgeous ?
Ms. Maddy King: My favorite supplement is called Perfect Food Raw. Its made
with 34 Nutrient-Dense RAW Organic greens, sprouts and veggies. Its rich in
chlorophyll, trace minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and probiotics.
Its a great way to get all these nutrients in your body, as it would be very
hard to eat 34 different types of vegetables, greens and sprouts every day! Its
also great because its low in sugar, I have mine with a little bit of water but
you could make it with a bit of organic apple juice if you prefer. Ive really
noticed a difference in my skin, hair and immunity from taking this product! No
endorsements here either, I just love it!!
For on the surface of my hair and skin I try and use only natural products or
even foods as face and hair masks. Try an Avocado for a wonderful and cheap face
mask and for hair mix one glass of milk, 1 egg and some coconut oil and apply
for 15 minutes. Its not the most pleasant but it works! If that doesn't sound
fun just put some coconut oil in your hair at night and wash it out in the
morning.
I also think its very healthy to get out in the sun and get a little vitamin D.
It makes you happy! For those times when you need to have an instant glow I
normally get a spray tan. I have just signed on with an amazing tan company that
uses 80% organic products. Its amazing and will be launching in Australia later
this year.. Stay tuned!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding
fashion model girls who wish to achieve success in the field modelling?
Ms. Maddy King: If its your dream to be a model then keep going, even the best
models and actors out there have been rejected many times. Find what type of
jobs you love doing and what jobs seem to work for your face and body and focus
on that. Life is about being happy, if your unhappy with what your doing then
change it.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have done bold photo shoots. How you are so body
confident and advice to your compatriots?
Ms. Maddy King: In the past I had always felt the need to be slimmer for work
and in everyday society. Photos and TV really does tend to put weight on
instantly. I have had lots of random people come up to me and say wow, you
aren't as fat as I thought you were!
Being in the media and having unflattering paparazzi shots in magazines and the
papers doesn't always make you feel good, especially when people add nasty
comments at the bottom. You just learn to grow a tougher shell, laugh it off or
simply not read them.
Realizing that one of the sexiest male models in Australia fell for me, made me
wake up to myself and say that I should be happy with how I look, no matter what
anyone says.
Mainly I think its really important to surround yourself with a partner, friends
and work associates that make you feel good about yourself. People that you want
to be around, bring out the best in you and make you a better person.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website womenfitness.net and
message for its visitors?
Ms. Maddy King: I'm very honored to do a interview for WomenFitness.net! Some
wonderful and inspirational women have been interviewed in the past and I feel
privileged to be among them. If I have even helped one girl with advice on
nutrition, exercise or beauty, then I'm happy!
Women Fitness Team thanks Maddy King for giving her valuable time for this
interview and quenching the thirst of her fans to know more about her and shall
also like to thank Leea Oak from Scoop Management who made this interview
happen.
