Who has been your greatest influence and motivator in your success in the field of Steeplechase?
Ms. Emma Coburn:
Jenny Simpson was the former American record holder in the steeplechase and we were teammates in college. I’m a few years younger than her and seeing her competing on the world stage was definitely motivating and inspiring.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Share with us your workout routine?
Ms. Emma Coburn:
I run 9 times a week, 80-85 miles a week, and am in the weight room 3 times a week. My running is a mix of easy runs, fast long runs, and shorter track workouts. My gym sessions are full body workouts with exercises like lunges, squats, and planks.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Emma Coburn:
I eat a balanced, healthy diet. My plate is usually 1/2 carbs, 1/4 protein and 1/4 veggies. Everything in moderation. I have a sweet tooth so love to have some sweets but try and keep that to a minimum in the weeks leading up to a competition.
