Tanith Belbin is a Canadian-American ice dancer. She is the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, four-time World medalist, three-time Four Continents champion, and five-time U.S. champion and an Actress in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You started at a very young age, skating when you was almost three and started ice dancing at about eight or nine and reached the pinnacle of success by winning 2006 Olympic silver medal, four-time World medal, three-time Four Continents championship (2004–2006), and five-time U.S. championship (2004–2008). What factors you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Tanith Belbin:
My journey to skating success was a long one, and would not have been possible without a few key factors: the unwavering support of my family, the incredible talent and patience of my partner Ben, and my drive to become the best at what I did.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Tanith Belbin:
When I was training, we used a lot of plyometrics to help develop quick, explosive movement, as well anaerobic and light weight training. After I retired from competition, I had a lot of residual aches and pains which persisted over the subsequent years, so I took up yoga to help my body stretch and improve circulation. Today, most off exercise is outdoors, hiking with my dog, kayaking, or playing tennis.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Tanith Belbin:
I always try to stay healthy, but I don’t restrict or monitor my diet today as I did when I was competing. I try to find balance in my meals, cook for myself, and use fresh ingredients as often as possible.
