Namita Nayyar:
You have flawless skin and shiny hair. Can you share with us your daily skin and hair routine?
Stephanie Del Valle:
The first thing to do is to drink water. In order to have healthy hair and skin, you also need to make sure you that are giving your body the nutrients it needs! Since I live in a tropical island, I never leave the house without SPF. The best things you need for healthy skin are SPF, a good moisturizer and a good cleanser. Try to avoid products with essential oils since they can be harmful to the skin over time even though they may smell great! As for hair, the best thing I can say is to use the best products available for healthy hair. Olaplex and Moroccan Oil products are some of my favorite.
Namita Nayyar:
After becoming Miss World what social issues/causes did you work on?
Stephanie Del Valle:
In order to compete as Miss World, every contestant must bring a Beauty with a Purpose project that impacts their country. When I competed, I worked with a foundation called Lily’s Angels. Their mission is to provide early intervention therapies for babies with Down Syndrome from ages 0-4 years of age. I started my work with them when I was 17 and still in high school. Once I decided to compete for Miss World, I thought of what I could do to impact the lives of these children and that Lily’s Angels wasn’t offering. I had the idea of combining two things I adored, music and these angels, to create a program of music therapy for the children to work on their oral, motor, cognitive and other skills in a fun way. It was a huge success. During my reign as Miss World I continued to support my project.
As Miss World, I also took on the task of supporting projects of previous winners and contestants. Some of the work we did included visiting Iowa and taking part of the Variety Children’s Charity annual 24-hour telethon where we broke records by raising $4.2 million USD. We went to South Africa to work with the Rise Against Hunger Foundation packing 750,000 food parcels to be distributed to early childhood development centers across the country on International Nelson Mandela Day. We also provided the funds to buy school equipment such as computers, projectors and monitors for a school in the landfills of Smokey Mountain as a road towards a modern education and an end to the cycle of poverty of these children. In addition, we hosted a charity gala in Puerto Rico to raise funds for the first ever pediatric liver and kidney transplant unit in Puerto Rico for the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital. That event was held during the week between Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, so the funds raised ended up going towards the reconstruction of the hospital after the hurricanes. Those are just a few of the projects I was lucky enough to be a part of during my reign as Miss World. Then, as Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador, I was able to accompany my successors on their trips and was able to continue to share our legacy with the world.
Namita Nayyar:
Mention 5 things that we can find in your gym bag?
Stephanie Del Valle:
Five items in my gym bag include a towel, water, headphones, a snack like an apple or mixed nuts and now, because of COVID, hand sanitizer.
Namita Nayyar:
What are the top 5 travel destinations that you absolutely love?
Stephanie Del Valle:
That is a tricky question because every place that I have visited so far has had something special that makes it unique. Some interesting travel destinations I would recommend would be Phuket (Thailand), Singapore, Hong Kong, Tangier (Morocco) and anywhere in Spain.
Namita Nayyar:
