Dr. Elsie Jones-Smith holds two PhDs, one in Counseling Psychology and the other in Clinical Psychology. She is a Diplomate (ABPP) in Counseling Psychology and is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association, Division 17, Counseling Psychology, and also a Fellow in Division 46, Ethnic and Minority Psychology. She has published two major contributions in The Counseling Psychologist, one on multicultural counseling and the other on strengths-based counseling. Dr. Jones-Smith has developed three major theories on ethnic identity development, strengths-based counseling, and place identity development.
