Namita Nayyar:
You’ve also spoken about how you wish to create your own fast-fashion house. How do you plan to go about it? Will it be a bigger version of ICY?
Saweetie:
It’ll definitely be a bigger version of ICY. I feel like I have a good sense of style and know what fashion trends are going to come; therefore, I know what will sustain over a period of time. I want to create a line that I love. If I love it, I’m going to wear it. So I’m super excited about that because I have a lot of great ideas that I can’t wait to share with everyone!
Namita Nayyar:
Your five tips for college girls who look up to you for some fashion advice?
Saweetie:
I feel like nothing is new under the sun and you’ll see both music and fashion repeats itself. So go out there and see what are people wearing and what’s popular! Do your research and see how and why people are wearing it now. Then get inspired and create, you can even mix and match and create a version of something that’s your own!
I also purchase and collect a lot of fashion books. I have the Yves Saint Laurent “All About Yves” book. I have a ton of magazines that I would suggest collecting to get inspired by, and my advice would be to share that advice and what you think is interesting with other people, maybe bounce ideas off of one another. I always say, “two or three creative minds are better than one.”
Lastly, you create your own sense of style. As long as a woman is happy, knows what looks good on her body, knows she’s comfortable in and she’s proud and confident in it, that’s what matters the most!
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your preparations for upcoming songs. You’re favorite among them.
Saweetie:
Well, my preparation for this project was first to feel confident and happy about finding my sound. Working long hours in the studio to deliver this record to my fans really makes it a fun project with great vibes all around. One of my favorite among them is actually a workout song! I’m so excited to share that record because it’s fun and has so much energy which I’m sure will motivate all the ICY girls out there to tap into their fitness.
I’m instructing them to do their sit-ups and squats, so they can look good for the summer but more importantly themselves—keyword “for themselves.” Self-confidence and body confidence is all about feeling good about yourself for yourself!
Namita Nayyar:
