Hair care:
For my hair I use Oribe Shampoo and conditioner. It is amazing on my hair. I find it the best for holding the color, at the same time making my hair manageable. I live in a dry climate, so it is important that it moisturizes, plus it gives me a beautiful lustre. It smells so pretty every time I use it. I only wash every second day so my natural hair oils have a chance to come back.
Over the years I have gravitated to high-quality products. I find I use less of the product with better results. My go to brands are Clarins and Eminence. I like Clarins because it’s a plant based natural product. Eminence is an organic skin care line. I use the Clarins hydra essentials line. This includes face wash, sos face mask and face cream. I have very sensitive skin and subject to break outs. I can use this with no issues. It is so hydrating and nourishing on my skin.
For my eyes I use Eminence Marine Flower peptide eye cream. It works so well preventing the bags under the eyes, crow’s feet and dark circles.
I also apply a complete 100% body hydration every day with cocoa butter body cream by Vaseline.
For lip care I do a lip scrub 2 x a week by Sara Happ. Exfoliating my lips makes them feel amazing and smooth and plump after taking off all the dead skin cells. Because of the dry environment where I live I do it 2x a week.

It is a dream comes true for a model to appear on Maxim. You made it to the last six finalists of Maxim Cover Girl from around the world. Tell us more about your experience in participating and the thrill of this competition.
Sandra Lyn Nelson:
It was the first time that I had ever entered a competition. I have to admit I was very nervous and unsure of what to expect. There were lots of rules and guidelines. At times it was difficult to keep up with it all. After the first couple of weeks I had time to adjust to the idea and it became a lot of fun.
I had a small following on Instagram when I first started the competition. I used IG and Facebook for the majority of my promoting. Locally, one of the radio stations picked up the story and interviewed me several times, updating my success and prompting the community to vote for me. As time passed and I moved from round to round the contest developed a life of its own.
One of the most positive aspects of being in the competition was the positive feedback I received from virtually all over the world from both men and women. I was so impressed with the avalanche of emotional support, as well as voting support from the public. I had to pinch myself at times! The competition started out with over 30,000 women participating, and I was competing with women in their early twenties, successful actresses, models and Instagram personalities. Truthfully, I entered just for fun at the prompting of my friends, family and partner. I actually didn’t expect to make it past the first round!!
It impacted me significantly in the last few rounds. I realized how many women had been eliminated and how deep I had progressed. The reality of it hit me and I realized what an achievement it really was.

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion model girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?
Sandra Lyn Nelson:
Determination, unrelenting work ethic and never give up believing in yourself. Your pursuit of this career is a marathon and not a sprint so be patient and believe in yourself. Always be prepared for setbacks because they are inevitable. Stay positive throughout them and trust the process and be relentless towards your cause. Those that are successful are the ones who refuse to quit and never take setbacks personally.
Embrace them and then move on and work harder. One of the most important things I have learned is not to compare yourself to other models and women. There are so many beautiful women on social media. Modeling is just not about your outward physical appearance. Having your personality and confidence shine through the camera is just as important. Your audience picks up on it and it becomes as alluring as your physical beauty.
