Stress Eaters Compensate By Eating Less Later
– Reported, November 01, 2013
The study examined the habits of two types of stress eaters: those known as munchers, who tend to eat more when faced with stress, and those known as skippers, who tend to eat less when faced with stress. Researchers found, after receiving negative feedback in the study, those who were munchers ate more, and the skippers ate less. But when faced with positive feedback, the munchers ate, on average, 74 less calories than the skippers.
“Stress eaters should not be considered at risk to gain weight by default,” lead researchers Gudrun Sproesser was quoted as saying. “Our results suggest the need for a dynamic view of food intake across multiple situations, positive and negative.”
