7 Portions of Fruit & Veggies Cut Death Risk
– Reported, April 07 2014
The UK government currently recommends eating five daily portions of fruits and vegetables. For the study, the authors looked at data from more than 65,000 adults aged at least 35 and tracked their recorded deaths for seven and a half years.
The results showed eating at least seven daily portions of fruits and vegetables were associated with lower risk of death from all causes including cancer, heart disease, and stroke. The higher the intake, the greater the protective effects seemed to be. The researchers concluded that current dietary guidance might need to be revised.
