Obese Women more likely to Die before Age 85

(Ivanhoe Newswire) A new study indicates older women who are obese or have a big waist size are more likely to die, contract a major chronic disease, and have a higher risk of mobility disability before they reach age 85.
Researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center examined data of 36,611 women from the Womens Health Initiative. They found women who were considered underweight or obese were more likely to die before they reached 85, women who were overweight or obese had a higher risk of contracting disease or developing a mobility disability. They also found women with a waist circumference greater than 35 inches had a higher risk of death, major disease, and developing a mobility disability.
