Biggest Temptations to Dieters?
– Reported, February 26, 2014
Researchers from the University of Birmingham, in England, followed 80 participants who were dieting. Participants tracked their eating behaviors and any temptations to lapse in their diet using a cell phone application. Researchers found the participants gave in to temptations over half of the time, and are more vulnerable at night. They also found being surrounded by friends tempted dieters to lapse, and they were more likely to give in to an alcoholic temptation than a sugary snack.
The findings help piece together the complex jigsaw surrounding the daily predictors of dietary temptations and help us to better understand how dietary temptations and lapses operate, lead researcher Heather McKee was quoted as saying. In the fight against obesity, we need to help people become more aware of the various personal, situational, and environmental factors that expose them to dietary temptations.
