Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Natasha Blasick: The way I was raised was to eat healthy, low fat foods including lots of greens and vegetables. For that I’m lucky. Something that helped a lot, and this happened fairly recently, was getting the Nutri Bullet. Right after I started making juices I started get more compliments on my skin. I never had a juicer before. But this one is so easy to use and clean.
Having these juices everyday has reduced my cravings for the worst sweets. Plus I feel like I’m doing something good for my body. I want to surround my body with foods that are good neighbors to the palace of my body. I don’t wonder now if I’m getting enough greens and fruits. Plus it encourages me to eat healthy the rest of the time. But by making juices, even if I have pizza now and then, I don’t feel I’ve lost touch with health. Also, I don’t feel guilty if I eat a dessert that I really love. But if I don’t love a dessert so much, I feel really guilty about eating it. It’s not worth the calories. Also I try to reduce carbs at night. It really seems to help keep my weight steady.
It’s been a process for me to find what works. I used to skip meals thinking I was reducing calories. But now I eat at least ever four hours. It keeps me balanced and not so moody. It’s been a big, powerful change for me.
I just wrapped a movie that has a fitness related theme. It’s called The Martial Arts Kid. It was amazing and inspiring to be surrounded by a great number of martial arts champions and legends. It’s a positive story about values including fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make it look so stunning?
Ms. Natasha Blasick: Thank you so much, first of all. Taking care of my skin is something I really enjoy. It’s the biggest organ in our body and it would be really disrespectful not to take care of it. And I just love creams. Clean eating and juices are a big part of it, too. I have regimes for night and day. No matter how much time I do or don’t have, I always put on sunscreen. It’s a huge part of taking care of skin. I drink water because we need to be hydrated. I love masks. I grew up thinking about skin. My mother and sister and I would have spa days at home where we would squish fruits on ourselves. We enjoyed it. I still love it. So it’s normal for me, like brushing teeth. Also, the steps are fun. I exfoliate, hydrate and protect. I read about creams before buying. I believe that if I truly believe in a product it will work. I really need to love my cream to have a good relationship with it. I also take Biosil for hair and nails.
As for my hair, my hair is quite fine and frizzy naturally which can be quite frustrating. It’s dry on the ends. I’ll give my hair a break from processing now and then because I think it needs it sometimes. But those are not my favorite hair days. I’m excited to try a flat iron I just got. My hairdresser recommended it. I’m afraid I’ve burned my hair too much with my curling iron. My hair is an ongoing experiment and challenge. I’ve had some amazing hairdressers work on me for shoots, and they can do such amazing things with what looks like very little effort. I am in awe their talent. Hair is not my strongest area. Or at least that’s how I feel about it. Lately I’ve been putting warm coconut oil on my ends and working it about half way up the length of the hair to keep it healthy.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words for our inspiring and budding women actresses who all are your fans, what should they do for their climb to the ladder of success in field of acting?
Ms. Natasha Blasick: Be authentic. Be passionate about it. Believe in yourself. I have to remind myself of these things all the time. Make sure it’s what you really want to do. There are difficult times. The acting part is wonderful. I love it. It’s amazing, But there can be some rough steps along the way. Trust yourself. If something doesn’t feel right, it most likely isn’t. Work hard. Keep learning. Surround yourself with good people. Surround yourself with people that inspire you. Bring your best. Whether it’s a big project or a little one give it 110% effort.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about the experience of working in the leading role in “Notes from the New World (2010)”, based on Dostoevsky’s Notes From The Underground?
Ms. Natasha Blasick: First of all, being on the set of any movie is a gift for which I’m grateful. And this script gave me the chance to work on material based upon some of the world’s best literature. I really loved the idea of taking characters created in an earlier time and putting them into today’s world. I read a lot of classic literature to prepare. I spoke four languages in the film. It was a low budget production. And, what impressed me most was how even under some difficult conditions that both cast and crew forged ahead to make it the very best they could. People really do want to bring their best to every project. That movie has had a pretty good run winning awards at European film festivals. I still haven’t seen the finished movie, but really want to.
