Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to a day in the life of an Alpine ski racer, preparing for the Olympic Games.
Ms. Lindsey Vonn:
A day in the life of me preparing for the Olympics is not as exciting as you might think. I have been so focused on the Olympics that I basically live at the gym. My average day consists of getting up early, going to the gym (about 4-6 hours a day), napping, eating, doing physical therapy and going to bed early.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share?
Ms. Lindsey Vonn:
My trainer, Alex Bunt, has everything planned out but I like to try and mix things up as much as I can. Monotony kills motivation. So the bulk of my training is weights, endurance training on a stationary bike, abilities, core and balance. I also enjoy road biking and tennis and anything outdoors except running.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Lindsey Vonn:
I usually stick to a balanced diet: protein, fruits, some low glycemic index grains and good fats (like nuts and avocados.) I indulge in ice cream or chocolate once in a while. I believe and live by the phrase “everything in moderation.”
