Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You turned professional boxer in 2010. How did you feel before and after your memorable win of World Boxing Foundation women’s super featherweight title on 13th July 2012 ?
Ms. Lauryn Eagle:
It is well publicized that I turned to boxing to channel and control my anger at having my wonderful dad taken from me and my family in 2008. But I seriously enjoy the sport. In the beginning I never really thought I would end up a World Champion but once I started training my determination and professional approach I had learnt in the Water Skiing Racing world spilled over into the ring. Before that title fight in Melbourne I was determined to silence the critics that thought I was a princess and had no place in the world of boxing. The criticism just spurred me on and made me more determined to succeed. After I won the fight I felt like I showed that when you put your mind to something and you have the dedication and drive to succeed … anything is possible.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What kind of training you have for being a professional boxer?
Ms. Lauryn Eagle:
As I mentioned earlier Boxing is a sport where your technique, agility and power are very important. Technique is important because every fighter you fight is different and you need to really have the right defence and punching technique to counter the southpaw, the counter puncher, the body puncher or the one punch pounders.. I do a lot of bag work and Sparring with all types of opponents men and woman. Agility and speed around the ring is also important so you have to be very, very fit. My skipping and running help with this. You rarely win a fight without punching power so the strength work I do on my shoulders and legs give me that power.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Who has been your greatest influencer and motivator in your success in the field of your career in water skiing and as a professional boxer?
Ms. Lauryn Eagle:
This is an easy one. My Family have been my biggest influence and have always guided me and supported me throughout all my career moves.
