Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
People often say they don’t have time to workout. Why not do sit-ups or leg lifts before leaving the bedroom in the morning? How about lunges while walking from one room to the next? Eighty percent of fitness is about calorie intake. I’m so busy I can’t always make it to the gym, I have an elliptical machine setup where I can do 30 to 60 minutes of cardio while watching the news first thing in the morning. I stay disciplined sometimes by telling myself for example, that I cannot check my cell phone, until I am on the elliptical machine.
If you do not have the luxury of time for the gym, incorporate exercise in your daily routines. Whenever you have time off, it’s wonderful for our body mind and spirit to get some fresh air outdoors. I love to hike with my dogs and with friends. It’s a fun adventure to bike ride with your family. There are plenty of ways to become active with significant others in your life.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
I drink a lot of water. I never weigh myself. People have many reasons why their weight might fluctuate a few times each month, I go by how my clothing fits me to determine the strictness of my regimen. I try to make sure that I’m never too hungry or too full. I’m at my best when I stick to vegetables and fish as my staple foods. I eat berries and plain yogurt, health oils and fats like those from coconuts, avocados, olives and nuts. I’ll always have a day here or there when I veer from my normal habits and indulge in comfort foods like chocolate and french fries. I consider these to be my “free days”. It’s best not to have more than 1 “free day” per week.
