You are the 3X Finnish national champion. Walk us through your spectacular journey and share what appeals to you most about the sport?
Emmi Peltonen:
I started skating when I was only two years old. I fell in love with the sport immediately. The speed, the jumping, how insanely difficult elements you can learn with your body and making it look easy. Expressing music and music, in general, has always been a big part of my life and in skating; you can really express the music, which for me feels amazing combined with difficult elements.
Namita Nayyar:
You made your Olympic debut at the Pyeongchang 2018 Games. From the experiences you’ve collected from there, how is your preparation for the next Olympics going?
Emmi Peltonen:
I feel like now, I’ve seen and experienced everything but now I really want to start to succeed in the next Olympics and Europeans and worlds. I want to stay healthy, motivated and train every day really
Good towards that moment.
Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to a day in your life.
Emmi Peltonen:
I love waking up really early so 6.00 am every day.
I make breakfast and go for a small morning run or a walk with my dog. Then usually I have my first ice session at 8.00 am. After that, I come home to have a snack and I hit the gym.
Then I have a small break and I eat lunch and rest. About 1-2 pm-ish, I have my second ice session. After I rest for a couple of hours and I have my third session at 5 pm.
Last but not least after a day like this I like
To bike for a moment and stretch to be ready for tomorrow.
Then I have dinner and watch Netflix and I go to bed.
