Ellen Hoog is most Stunning Athlete 2012.
 Ellen
Hoog was born on 26th March 1986 in Bloemendaal. She is a Dutch female field
hockey player and a member of the Netherlands women's national field hockey
team. She is also a member of the Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club.
In 2004 she made her debut in the national team. She has played 127 matches for
the national team in which she has scored 32 goals.
In August 2005, she became European Champion in Dublin (IRL). In December of the
same year she won the Champions Trophy in Canberra (AUS) with the Dutch National
Women's Team. She was also part of the Dutch squad that became World Champion at
the 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup.
Her father died from cancer a week after the European Championship victory in
Ireland. After his death she had difficulties picking up her normal life again,
but regained the motivation to start playing when the new season started in
October 2005.
In 2012, Hoog became the first player to decide a major championship match with
a penalty shootout, taking the winning shot in the 2012 Summer Olympics
semi-final against New Zealand.
 She writes about herself on her site " At Beijing 2008 Olympic Hockey Gold On my
seventh, I started with hockey. Five years later, I was selected for the Dutch
B, which I played two years. In 2003 I arrived at Juniors and one year later as
attacker in Dutch Hockey Team. With this team we became European Champion in
2005 and in 2006 even World Champion! But, still fresh in the memory, is the
great result at the Beijing Olympics: gold! Meanwhile I played over 90
internationals and scored 16 times. We continue to count! Although hockey is my
passion, I am between workouts and races also a student. At the Hogeschool
Amsterdam I study Media and Information Management. The remaining time besides
hockey and studying, I spend actively giving clinics and motivational
presentations about perseverance and reaching the top. Another interest is
fashion and clothing, which I occasionally do some photo shoots."
