Namita Nayyar:
You are the Swiss indoor record holder for the 60 m hurdles and outdoor 100 m hurdles. You are also a six-time Swiss national champion. How does such winning honor being bestowed upon you act as a catalyst in your meteoric rise as a leading hurdler athlete?
Ditaji Kambundji:
I’ve always felt like winning medals or breaking a record or something has always been something that really motivates me to do better. Because I’ve always had the feeling, okay, so now I run 12:40, so what can I run next? And it really motivates me for the next season. What can I do better to run even faster? What can I do more? What can I do less? What can I do different? And so I’ve always had that fire that really motivates me to run faster.
Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Ditaji Kambundji:
I think it’s really difficult to just pick one exercise. I think we really have a big mix of things that we do in training that helps us to run faster. It’s not always just running hurdles. We have a lot of different sessions like weights and sprints and technical training and jumps and everything. So I think the mix of it all really helps to run faster.

Namita Nayyar:
How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.
Ditaji Kambundji:
Yes, of course, I do train my abs. I think in general we try to have a good fitness in the whole body and the abs or maybe the strength of your core is really really important to be able to hold all these movements you do at top speed. And for that I do Pilates. That is something that really helps.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ditaji Kambundji:
I don’t have a special strict menu or a strict diet, but I really try to eat healthy because it’s really important for us also to have all we need and I think that is something that I try to focus on to eat healthy but I don’t have a… I’m not really strict with it as long as it’s healthy and it keeps me happy. I think that is important.

Namita Nayyar:
Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.
Ditaji Kambundji:
I’m really not complicated with food I eat almost everything but something I really like is lasagna or anything with truffle on it, I really love a good brunch that is some of my favorites and I really like sushi and any kind of good creamy pasta and then I think foods I try to minimize that I really like is for example I really like sour sweets but I’m not eating sweets every day or ice cream especially with nuts. My sister makes really good cakes, Muswama, and I really like her cakes, but it’s only on birthdays. And then I think junk food just in general that I try not to eat every day and to minimize.
Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.
Ditaji Kambundji:
So for my skin I think I try to minimize my skincare routine. It’s always a bit different but I try not to do too much. I’ve been struggling with acne for a really long time which is better now but today I try to not use as many products as I’ve been using before. And then for my hair I always try to keep my hair healthy, use good shampoos like the Rausch shampoos and then of course do my hair care routine and some kind of curly leaving conditioner so they stay hydrated.
