Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding skiers who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in this field?
Ms. Denise Herrmann:
I think it is important to start not too late with skiing so you have enough time to learn quite a lot of technical things playfully.
But what is most important is to have fun. Enjoy to push yourself. Set goals. Work for them – hard! There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs and this might be a long way but I’m sure you make it! 😉
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
In April 2016, you announced that you would switch to competing in biathlon for the following season, tell us more about it.
Ms. Denise Herrmann:
Biathlon is a very interesting sport to me. Since I changed my training center to Ruhpolding I was confronted with it every day, so it came more and more in my mind. Five years ago, in 2012, the German Ski Federation invited me to a shooting camp with the possibility to change the discipline. At this time I wasn’t ready for this huge step but it never left my mind. After the season 2015/16 I decided to do this step and go all in. I am very happy with my decision and every day is a new day with a new challenge. Over the past months I learned a lot and there is still more to come. We will see how it works until the next Olympic Games. I know it will be hard to be part of this strong and successful German team. Nevertheless, I hope I can make my dreams come true.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your preparations for the future Games and Championships.
Ms. Denise Herrmann:
I try to have a perfect training every day and stay healthy. Those are my main goals. It is important to work in your basics, improve your personal weaknesses and get stronger in total. For me that is on one hand to optimize the endurance training and on the other hand my shooting especially under high stress level.
