Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Carina Horn:
I train twice a day except on Sundays. I have a track session in the mornings and a gym session in the afternoons every day, hard track sessions varies between 2-4 hours pending on the workout and gym as well 3-4 hours. Will be very specific to my event and what I need to perform at my best and be at my fastest and strongest.
Namita Nayyar:
How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.
Carina Horn:
I train abs twice a week, 1000 reps at a time at the end of my Uppebody workouts. Varies as well to where I am in my season, closer or in season I will start off with 600 reps and the last 400 reps will be very explosive and fast with med ball or weights. And also any exercise you do in the gym if you do it right your abs are always working out in anything you do, and on the track sprints your abs is always part of the workout. I think I have a really good gym program which gives me my toned body, thank you for the compliment.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Carina Horn:
This is probably not what you expected to hear, but I haven’t ever been on a diet, I also don’t eat any vegetables I do discipline myself to not eat sweets and take out a lot but if my body tells me it wants something I take it. For me, I train a lot of hours and need the energy and must enjoy what I eat.
Namita Nayyar:
Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.
Carina Horn:
Foods I love is definitely is Pizza, Braai (Barbeque), Burgers, Chocolate, Ice cream. Foods I keep to a minimum probably are the food I love because I can’t have that every day. I only eat what I love, but do discipline myself. I don’t eat any vegetables.
