Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to a day in your life.
Ms. Bo Derek:
My day begins early as dogs and horses don’t let you sleep in. I swear my dogs hear the change in my breathing before I even know I’m awake because as I open my eyes, there they are alert and all wiggly.
Then, as I look out the window there are four horses and a donkey staring at me, and just in case you didn’t know – they’re starving. And the house rule is…Everyone eats before I do.
Breakfast is not my favorite meal of the day, so it might be a bowl of oatmeal, boiled eggs or my favorite Danish pancakes from our nearby town of Solvang. After morning chores and a little office work, I head to the pool at the YMCA for a mile swim, hopefully three days a week. I hate exercise and am quite expert at talking myself out of it. I swim with a waterproof iPod and I’m now listening to Brad Thor’s, Scott Harvath series audiobooks. A real page turner is at least, something to look forward to.
I’ve taken up Openwater Swimming with a girlfriend. We have vowed to each other that we will enter a 4-6k competition once a year in a pretty place. Its important for me to have a goal to train for.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are world leading media personality, actress, producer, model, activist and businesswoman. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Bo Derek:
I don’t! I’m a natural born procrastinator so I’m always rushing to make deadline. A couple of years ago I took up meditating with Headspace, which has helped me organize my thoughts and time.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?
Ms. Bo Derek:
Other than swimming…chores. Life around the ranch will keep you fit. Actually cleaning your house can be a great workout. I’m not one for gyms.
