Namita Nayyar:
What is the best compliment that you have ever received?
Ashley Doris:
One of the best compliments that I have received actually happened the other week. It was in an addition for a big television network that I’ve auditioned for before. The casting director is always lovely to work with, but this time she said “you truly were the part, you created a whole world.” That moment just can’t be topped.
Namita Nayyar:
Define Women Fitness?
Ashley Doris:
Women Fitness is not only a platform that talks about physical fitness, it is a tool for women to speak up about issues that affect us mentally. It empowers us when we read other women’s stories to have our own conversations that we would not have had before.
Namita Nayyar:
Your favourite dance styles?
Ashley Doris:
I have been trained in ballet and jazz from an early age, but now I love taking hip hop classes. The music in class is so much more motivating than someone behind a piano (no offense to ballet students!) You can learn a lot even when you’re not in class, by watching choreographers class videos on Instagram or YouTube. Through social media a lot of choreographers are taping their classes and letting thousands of people view them for free. It’s like when a football player reviews tapes of their competitors to analyze each play. You can pick up on so many little nuances of dance, and then implement them into your own style.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you like to workout in a gym or outdoors?
Ashley Doris:
I enjoy working out in an indoor gym, I plug in my headphones, turn on some good music or a podcast and enjoy my time there. I use the gym at my apartment building, it’s important for me to not to have to drive somewhere every day just to be able to work out. Here in LA driving just a few miles can take up an hour of your time, and that just doesn’t seem practical to me.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you like being on social media? Why?
Ashley Doris:
I like being on social media to observe mostly, I like to watch videos that my friends make, and see what projects they’re working on.
Sometimes it’s difficult to come up with content for every day of the week, recently I’ve been posting less, and I find that while I’m not posting every day, I’m enjoying social media more. The days that I do post, the content has something directly to do to with my life, instead of choosing quantity over quality.
