Diabetes is biggest concern for 1 in 10 Brits
Almost one in ten UK adults are most worried about developing diabetes,
according to a survey conducted by Pharma Nord.
The research revealed that
1824-year-olds are most concerned about the disease, with one in seven citing
the blood sugar disorder as their biggest worry. Concern was lowest among
4554-year-olds, despite the fact that type 2 diabetes typically appears after
the age of 40.
Results also showed that nine per cent
of Brits are worried about their blood sugar level, and only 71 per cent know
what their blood sugar level should be.
Health concerns are widespread, with
only 14 per cent of respondents claiming theyre worry-free because they feel
fit and well. However, just 28 per cent of UK adults attend the doctors for
regular blood tests or check-ups.
And, even though diet has a significant
impact on a persons chances of developing diabetes and other diseases, less
than a third of respondents eat healthily to reduce their risk of becoming
unwell.
The survey suggests that people are
failing to take advantage of alternative ways to prove health, too. A mere five
per cent of respondents were aware that supplements that help lower blood sugar
are commercially available.
Bio-Chromium (ChromoPrecise) from Pharma Nord delivers 250 per cent of the
recommended daily allowance of chromium, an essential mineral that supports the
biological processes that control blood sugar levels.
