Karlie Kloss
Karlie Elizabeth Kloss is an American fashion model. Kloss is ranked second on the Top 50 Models Women list by Models.com. Vogue Paris declared her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s. She is a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
Kloss was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Tracy and Kurt Kloss, an emergency physician. She has three siblings, Kristine, and twins Kimberly and Kariann. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, with her family, in 1994. Kloss has called her classical ballet training “a beautiful thing” that taught her how to move in the modeling world and was a great training ground for her runway walk. Kloss was “discovered at a local benefit runway show”. She attended Webster Groves High School.
An American beauty originally from Chicago, then from St Louis Missouri, United States. Discovered at a charity fashion show in a mall in St. Louis for a friend who was battling cancer. Now based in NYC, Karlie studied ballet which explains her grace on the runway and her popularity among the designers. Close friends with fellow model Jourdan Dunn and Karmen Pedaru. Has a puppy named Joe.
At the beginning of her career in 2006, Kloss posed for photographer David Leslie Anthony for a 12-page editorial and cover for Scene Magazine in Chicago. Elite Chicago then forwarded these tear sheets to Elite NY, who then brought Kloss to New York.
One of her first modelling stints was for Abercrombie when she posed for the brand’s photography shot by Bruce Weber. In January 2008 she left Elite and signed with NEXT Model Management. She ended up walking 31 runways in New York Fashion Week notably, closing for Marc Jacobs, opening Carolina Herrera, and occupying both spots at Doo.Ri. After New York she went on to walk 20 shows in Milan, and 13 in Paris for the fall 2008 collections, with a total of 64 shows in a single season. Kloss found herself in the middle of a legal dispute when her former agency Elite Model Management sued NEXT Model Management for allegedly stealing its young star by offering her “improper compensation” to sign. Elite felt they were responsible for launching her career and booked much work for her. The case was eventually settled out of court.
After four years of being represented by Next Model Management, Kloss is now signed with IMG Models. “Karlie has an immense and loyal following, and we welcome the opportunity to help expand her relationships through endorsements as well as our global network that reaches beyond fashion”, said Ivan Bart, IMG Models’ senior vice president and managing director.
Her runway walk, one of the most unique, is often described as powerful. In February 2011, supermodel Tyra Banks stated that Kloss was one of her favorite models because of her “unique, atypical beauty”. In 2011 Kloss renewed her contract with Christian Dior for the third season in a row. The same year, she made her debut in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In 2012 Kloss is featured on the September covers of British Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar Russia, and Numéro. She appeared in the campaign ads of Juicy Couture, Stefanel, Elie Saab, and Jean Paul Gaultier. She co-hosted with the revival of the MTV series House of Style with fellow model Karlie Kloss. She also appeared in that year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
In 2013, Kloss was the face of Donna Karan, Lacoste, and Lanvin campaigns. Kloss worked with Victoria’s Secret on their 2013 summer swimwear video. She was also the red carpet host of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards pre-show. In April, Kloss starred alongside Daria Strokous, Jac and Iris Strubegger in Louis Vuitton’s Alma bag campaign.
Her hobbies include baking cookies, biking, and ballet. In collaboration with Momofuku Milk Bar, she created a special recipe called Karlie’s Kookies, which she sold in DKNY Soho during Fashion’s Night Out in New York City, with proceeds benefiting hungry children around the world (through FEED Projects). She calls it a “Perfect 10 Cookie”, because it contains dark chocolate and almond oat (dairy-free, gluten-free, and no sugar added).
Models.com says ‘Just when you think you’ve got Karlie Kloss figured out the beauty from St. Louis surprises you. When you thought she was just a high fashion princess Karlie comes along and scoops up every money client. When you think she’s the cute girl next door she opens up and shows Vogue Italia her sexy, powerful side. Karlie’s versatility and endless drive have impressed everyone in the business – you gotta love a girl who can make Anna Wintour smile – and given that clients like Dior, Donna Karan and Oscar de la Renta are clamoring for Ms. Kloss’ attention, we’re sure to be seeing her around for a long time coming’.

Liu Wen
Liu Wen is a Chinese fashion model. She is the first model of Chinese descent to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In 2010, she became the first spokesmodel of Asian descent for Estée Lauder, alongside Constance Jablonski and Joan Smalls.
Liu was born into a working-class family on January 27, 1988, in Yongzhou, a city in the Hunan province of China. Liu is an only child. In her teens, her mother encouraged her to be professional, to eat well, and to enter the modeling contest which led to Liu’s discovery.
Liu started her modeling career in 2005 when she entered the New Silk Road World Model Contest, a contest previously won by international covergirl Du Juan. Although she did not win the competition, Liu soon began working fulltime as a model, becoming a national success story when she landed the cover of Chinese FHM. She has accepted modeling work with Chinese fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
In September 2007, Liu caught the attention of the international fashion industry when she shot a Cosmopolitan editorial in clothes designed by Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor and Rolf and would later walk for each of those firms. She was invited to Paris in 2008, and signed with the Marilyn Agency. In February 2007 she appeared in four fashion-related articles for Chinese Vogue. In 2009, Liu became the first woman of Chinese descent to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Wen also participated in the 2010 show. For the Spring 2010 ready-to-wear season, she walked 70 shows in New York, Paris and Milan which made her the second most booked model for the season following French model Constance Jablonski. In April 2010, it was announced that Liu and Jablonski would help to represent the cosmetics company Estée Lauder. Liu is the first Asian face of the company. As of August 2012, Liu is ranked #5 on the Top 50 Models Women List by models.com.
In the past, Liu has said that after modeling she might enjoy working as a stylist or, were the opportunity to arise, as an actress – she feels that modeling and acting have much in common, but for now she enjoys modeling and working in the fashion industry. She has stated that she knows that, as a career choice, working as a fashion designer or stylist would be “very hard work,” but she is now more seriously considering becoming a stylist because she would like “to share her fashion style – tomboyish, vintage, and comfortable – with the world.”
Liu is known in the fashion industry for her professionalism and her friendly, outgoing, down-to-earth personality. She is friends with fellow models Joan Smalls, Constance Jablonski and Lindsey Wixson and fellow Chinese models Shu Pei Qin, Du Juan, Fei Fei Sun, Sui He, Ju Xiaowen, Ming Xi and Shu-Yu Liu.

In August 2007 New York Magazine chose “The Top Ten Models to Watch This Fashion Week” and placed Koponen on third. In September 2007 she was named one of British Vogue’s “Head Girls,” a model to watch out for in the upcoming season. She also opened the Reem Acra spring show in New York and closed the Carolina Herrera, Jill Stuart and DKNY spring shows in New York. Later that month she opened the Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari, Fendi and Just Cavalli shows in Milan and closed the Alberta Ferretti, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Roberto Cavalli shows also in Milan.
She is signed with the model agencies Next (New York), Women Model Management (Milan and Paris), Premier (London), Paparazzi (Helsinki), Stockholmsgruppen Models 2pm management (Copenhagen) and IMM – International Model Management.
In February 2008 Mtv3 aired a documentary about her and Koponen said that she doesn’t “care about weight things, but it’s more important to me that I’m happy and I feel good. What happens to my body is going to happen and people have to live with that or I’ll quit this job.” Koponen also became the face of Blumarine again.
Finnish professionals Outi Broux and Riku Campo ranked her number one on their Finland’s most successful models list. “Since the 70-80’s no one has been as successful as Suvi,” Outi said simply.
“It really annoys me that people think every model has an eating disorder, and every model is dumb. Most of the girls are naturally skinny, like me. I don’t have to watch what I eat. I love eating! Especially ice-cream and salty snacks.”
Koponen has “5” tattooed on the middle of her back, both the number of people in her family and her lucky number. She also has the text “imported” tattooed under her chest, three lines on her left wrist and “Cat” on her right hand, which stands for her model friend, Catherine McNeil.
To prepare for fashion week, she said, “I slept! A lot! It’s just really important to get a lot of rest. I have to mentally prepare myself, too. I have to be like, ‘Suvi, it’s only a month. You’ll be ok.’ That really helps.”
Her favorite place is the Maldives, where she shot a British Vogue editorial. Koponen is married to model turned actor Tyler Riggs She currently resides in Sherman Oaks, California
Models.com says ‘Once again, Suvi is the name on everyone’s lips. Out of nowhere Mrs. Riggs managed to score that coveted Calvin contract, a fragrance campaign and the cover of Vogue Paris’ March edition. The momentum just keeps building and we forsee the rise of a true high fashion power player’.
