Teahna Daniels is an American athlete competing in sprinting events. She led off the American 4 × 100 meters relay team at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics and 2015 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships to win gold medals and also won an individual 100 m bronze medal at the Pan American Junior Championships.
Collegiately, she ran track for the Texas Longhorns and placed third in the 100 m at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships and was a 100 m and 200 m finalist at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She won the 100 m title at the 2019 NACAC U18 and U23 Championships in Athletics in July.
She made her first national podium at the 2018 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships, taking third place in the 60-meter dash. She won her first national title at the 2019 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a victory in the 100 m.

Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Teahna Daniels, an Olympic Silver medalist 2020 Tokyo in 4×100 m relay here she talks about her workout, diet, hair care, skincare routine and her success story.
Namita Nayyar:
You were born in Orlando, Florida, United States. You must have been into athletics early in your life. You had a first national podium at the 2018 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships, taking third place in the 60-meter dash. You later won your first national title at the 2019 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 100 m. This later propelled your career to the height where you have been at the top of the world as an athlete competing in sprinting events. Tell us more about your professional journey of exceptionally hard work, tenacity, and endurance?
Teahna Daniels:
I have been running track since I was eight years old so I am well-seasoned with the sport and everything that may come with it. My transition to becoming a professionaltrack athlete was, in a way, destined to happen. Throughout high school and college I was surrounded by Olympians. They all were aware of my talent and knew that I couldpossibly go far in the profession. It took me a while to truly believe this myself, but when I changed my mindset, my life changed. I was more confident in my talents and myself asa person. I began performing better on the track. I ventured out of my sport and developed a community within the yoga world. I am truly a believer of mind over matter; your circumstances do not determine your fate.
Namita Nayyar:
You have been a 2016 NCAA Division 1 60 m Champion, 10-time NCAA All-American, and 7-time Big 12 individual event champion as a student-athlete at the University of Texas atAustin. Tell us how you were drawn to this sport of athletics competing in sprinting events and your meteoric rise in the 100m event?
Teahna Daniels:
As stated before, I began running on a competitive level at the age of eight. My mom wanted me to join the local track and field team in Orlando and I have been running since then. The reason behind the drive that I have to keep going is my love for competing and being the best version of myself. In track and field I am able to do both of those things.

Namita Nayyar:
You won a Silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in the 4×100 m relays? Tell us more about this exceptional achievement of yours?
Teahna Daniels:
Being an Olympian was an accomplishment within itself, but to be an Olympic silver medalist for my first Games experience was something that I dreamt about since I started track and field. Going into the 4×100, my confidence level within my teammates was high because I knew that Javianne Oliver, Jenna Prandini, English Gardner, Aleia Hobbs, and Gabby Thomas would be able to get the job done. The relay is a team event, so being a part of that dynamic felt exciting.
Namita Nayyar:
You won Gold medals in the 2014 World Junior Championships at Eugene, United States in 4×100 m relays, 2015 Pan American Junior Championships at Edmonton, Canada in 4×100 m relays, 2019 NACAC U23 Championships at Queretaro, Mexico 100 m, 2019 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Des Moines, Iowa in100 m, 2015 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships at Eugene, Oregon in 100 m, 2015 New Balance Indoor Nationals at New York, in 60 m, 2012 New Balance Nationals Outdoor at Greensboro, North Carolina in 200 m and Bronze at World Championships 2019 Doha in 4×100 m relays. What is your opinion should be the traits in an athlete to be consistently successful as a world-class sprinter?
Teahna Daniels:
The word you used in the question describes what it takes to be an elite level athlete. Being consistent in your work. This goes for wanting success in any field that you’re in.It’s all the same approach. If you have a skill you are great at and you put energy, work, and love into it, you’re going to thrive.
Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Teahna Daniels:
A fitness workout I would suggest to anyone is yoga. Starting a regular asana yoga and meditation practice has helped with my career in a huge way. I am able to practice my breath work and mindfulness, which translates to everything in my life.
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us your training schedule to boost one’s immunity and practice for sprint races in such pandemic times?
Teahna Daniels:
I do not write my own workouts on the track or in the weight room. The only thing I have control over in a fitness setting outside of my sport is my yoga practice. During thelockdown in 2020, my training partners, coach, and I had a hard time finding a place to train because the University of Texas, where I work out, was closed. With the training Iam in now, it all depends on the time of the year. During the fall we do not compete, but our practice consists of longer runs and heavy lifting. At the end of winter, entering intospring and then summer is where we have competitions and our training is sprint based and lifting is lighter and faster.
Namita Nayyar:
How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.
Teahna Daniels:
My abs routine involves doing a total of 200 reps of different abs exercises during the week. Also one aspect that has helped tone my body is drinking a lot of water andpaying attention to my food intake throughout the day. When I did this consistently, I saw a change in my body.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Teahna Daniels:
I would not classify what I do food wise during the season as a diet, I am a little more cautious of what I consume and don’t over indulge on processed and high sugar food. Itis more of a lifestyle than diet.

When it comes to hair care, I try to keep my hair in protective styles, such as braids but I think I’m ready to venture into wearing wigs and other styles. As for skincare, it isgeneral. I have my face wash, serum, toner, and moisturizer routine in the morning, after training, and before I go to bed.

Three words of advice, keep it simple. Life is already complicated. The approach you imagined to accomplish a goal may not be the best way to get to where you want to be.Be open minded, but still continue to work towards the life you want. Also be kind to others, you never know what someone may be going through.
