5X Olympic Diver Tania Cagnotto Shares Glimpses From Her Journey

Tania Cagnotto

Tania Cagnotto is an Italian diver. She is the first Italian female diver to win a medal in a World Championship. A five-time Olympian, she won medals in both individual and synchronized springboard diving in her final appearance at the Olympics in 2016. She is also a 20-time champion at the European level.

Women Fitness President, Namita Nayyar, joins the diving sensation for an interesting chat about why she loves the sport!
Namita Nayyar:

Being the first Italian female diver to win a medal in a World Championship. Tell us about your professional journey as a diver. How it all began?

Tania Cagnotto:

I began to dive when I was 6 years old, because my parents were both divers 😉 it all started as a joke then it became more important.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a five-time Olympic winner, having won medals in both individual and synchronized springboard diving in your final appearance at the Olympics in 2016, what is your fitness regime while training for this sport?

Tania Cagnotto:

Until Rio I was training 6 hours at day, taking care of good rest, healthy eating and constant physiotherapy.

Namita Nayyar:

You have been a 20-times European champion, tell us about your diet & fitness routine? Are there any absolute no-no’s in your diet?

Tania Cagnotto:

Not really I just tried to eat healthy as much as possible!

Namita Nayyar:

Have you ever faced any physical restrictions, due to which you may have altered your fitness regime?

Tania Cagnotto:

I couldn’t go to ski or do any other dangerous sports.

Namita Nayyar:

How has your life changed post retirement? And after becoming a mother?

Tania Cagnotto:

It changed a lot 🙂 everything moves around Maya 🙂 I don’t have any time for me anymore 🙂 but I don’t have pressure for diving! Because there is other more important things 🙂

Namita Nayyar:

You started off as a coach diver after ending your competitive career. How is that going?

Tania Cagnotto:

I still have to plan things after my career, but yes I would love to coach! 

Namita Nayyar:

Share with us the best piece of advice that helped you overcome physical obstacles/injuries in life?

Tania Cagnotto:

Just to have patience and try again and again 😉

Namita Nayyar:

Share your fitness goals or resolutions for 2019?

Tania Cagnotto:

Our goal is to qualify only in synchro event 3m for Tokyo 2020.

Namita Nayyar:

In 2018 you published a book called ‘Oro, Argento, Tania’, tell us more about it.

Tania Cagnotto:

It’s a book about my career and about my private life! Short article with many pictures…
