Silvia Kal is highly talented and accomplished spanish actress, model and TV personality. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You must have started to work as a model at an early age and later began to pursue acting. You reached the pinnacle of success when you got the chance to work with directors such as Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese. Tell us about your journey that took you to where you are now in the world of acting, as a model and TV Host ?
Ms. Silvia Kal: I’ve never really pursued a modeling career. I work as a model just because it happens. Modeling and acting are very related. In Spain, before I moved to the U.S., I worked as a TV hostess and did some acting too, but I started to act full time six months after I moved to Los Angeles, four years ago. I had always wanted to do it, and if you want to be serious about it, this is the city.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have selected a profession of being an actress in films and television that requires a lot of hard labor, technical soundness and excellence in different faculties to finally succeed, how do you achieve that?
Ms. Silvia Kal: If you want to succeed in this profession you have to work extremely hard, be VERY disciplined, invest a lot of time and money in your career, and don’t give up. But if you are not willing to do every single thing that is in your hands, it’s better to choose another career…
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are a leading actress, model and TV Host. How you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Silvia Kal: It’s such a fun lifestyle. Every day is different. I don’t like monotony. In every job I do I meet interesting and very talented people, and I get to learn a lot from them.
On the other hand, I can’t make plans because I never know what is going to come up tomorrow… and I’m always scared to book a trip because every time I do, I get an amazing job or audition… but it’s definitely worth it!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you might like to share?
Ms. Silvia Kal: I started to dance when I started to walk. Dancing is something I’ll always do for sure. I also walk a lot. When I say a lot I mean that if I have time I walk for 4 hours in a row. It makes me feel so good and relaxed. Apart from that, I don’t have a workout routine but I love being outdoors either riding my bike along the beach, hiking, going up and down the stairs in Santa Monica, or jumping waves on the beach.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Silvia Kal: I don’t follow any diet. I eat a lot but try to eat healthy. Everything I buy is organic. I also try to eat small meals but very often, and I feel much better when I’m not too full.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Silvia Kal: Thanks 🙂 For my skin I use very good products. Somehow I get so many of them from jobs, presents, events… So I mix them all! Lol. But I highly recommend using a brush to wash your face. It makes a big difference. Your skin looks more clear, clean and smooth. For my hair, I wash it every day so I also buy the best products, use a mask, leave-in conditioner, and a heat protector.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words for our inspiring and budding women models and actresses who all are your fans, what should they do for their climb to the ladder of success in field of acting and modeling?
Ms. Silvia Kal: Like I said before, you need to put all your heart in what you are doing, don’t give up because hard work pays back and nothing is impossible. I also learnt so many things talking to people, asking questions, and just being curious. An important tool is being around people that motivate and encourage you.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your inspiration and motivation that led you to your success in the world of acting and modeling?
Ms. Silvia Kal: My inspirations are all the big actors who made it on the back of their hard work. Whose families couldn’t help them and they had to work themselves up. Examples of this would be Brad Pitt (who everybody knows was dressing as a chicken while trying to succeed), Penelope Cruz, or Antonio Banderas, who said he was sleeping in the subway when he moved to Madrid to be an actor. They really inspire me to work hard.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have worked extensively in international music videos, most recently in drag racing against Snoop Dogg for his hit single, “Let The Bass Go” from the Dreamworks movie, “Turbo”. Tell us about this endeavor of yours ?
Ms. Silvia Kal: Music is a very important part of my life, so being able to be a part of the visual creation is pretty amazing. When I was a kid I was always saying that I wanted to do music videos, and now I’ve done so many! If I had known this back then, I would’ve been so happy. It’s really fun. I like the parts in slow motion, because you have to act big and exaggerate the moves. If you are doing a fighting scene in slow motion you have to move your hands and hair a lot and go crazier than normal, haha.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your experience working and co-producing the television show, “Subimos Al Cielo” with Spanish TV host Evelyn Lopez?
Ms. Silvia Kal: It´s been fun and a lot of hard work. We met through a friend in Los Angeles and decided we were gonna create a TV show based here and in Spain. We wanted something new, something that we had never seen before in our country. We interview celebrities and go to nice events. The show has some comedy so I have a great time interviewing people and so do they. It’s the first time I’ve produced something like this and I only now realize how many problems producers have to deal with. I really admire them now!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You moved from Spain to United States for your professional career. For a model and as an actress adjusting to new countries with their own cultures it must be difficult and then to adjust with modeling career in the new foreign land, what advice you can give to fellow models in a similar situation?
Ms. Silvia Kal: My advice is to be brave. If you want to move to another country to pursue your dream, just do it. Who knows if things are going to be good or not but at least you are not going to live your whole life regretting that you didn’t try… Follow your dreams and make them happen. Your future is in your hands. Don’t be afraid of the language or the culture, everybody can learn it and adapt. Moving to Los Angeles is the best thing I’ve ever done, and of course, I was scared too. But every day I think “I’m so glad I did it…”
