Description
A ketogenic diet is high in fat, with moderate protein and extremely low carbohydrates, optimally no more than 20g to 50g net carbs per day. Carbohydrates help spike insulin in the body, which in turn signals your liver, muscle and fat cells to take in more glucose. The increased glucose is stored in the cells and used for energy. When the body is deprived of glucose for energy, due to low carbohydrates, it burns stored fats instead – a metabolic process known as ketosis
