Selena DeLuca, a nursing student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, last year lost 55 pounds by making small necessary changes in her lifestyle and choosing healthier meals.
Lets check out her wonderful transformation journey in an exclusive interview with Women Fitness.
Women Fitness:
When did you realize that you needed to lose weight?
Selena DeLuca:
I realized I first needed to lose weight when I was in my sophomore year in high school. I had realized that I put on a lot of weight since the beginning of high school from eating all of the greasy junk food they provide at lunches.
Women Fitness:
How has your weight loss journey been? What were the milestones that you had to overcome?
Selena DeLuca:
My weight loss journey has been great. I have put on a few pounds since I stopped hardcore “dieting”, however, with clean eating and exercise it will be easy for me to get back to my desired healthy lifestyle.
Women Fitness:
What is your fitness regime like?
Selena DeLuca:
My fitness regime is not anything crazy or rigorous. Being a full-time nursing student, it’s actually quite difficult for me to work out a lot. Although, when I can get to the gym, I’m there for about an hour running on the treadmill, doing the elliptical, and lifting weights. On days I can not get to the gym, I do a quick-and-easy, 30-minute workout at home consisting of squats, crunches, planks, and lifting weights.
Women Fitness:
In a typical day, what do you take for breakfast-lunch-dinner? And what are your go-to healthy snacks?
Selena DeLuca:
For breakfast on a typical day, I’ll have oatmeal and some egg whites with fruit on the side. For lunch and dinner, I eat meals supplied by Diet-to-Go, a healthy meal delivery company. The meals are controlled for calories and portion-controlled, and all I have to do is heat them up. Since they taste so great, I don’t get bored, and they are super convenient. Who/What do you consider the greatest motivation behind your healthy weight loss journey?
Selena DeLuca:
I consider the greatest motivation behind my healthy weight loss journey the people who use to bully me for my weight or look at me differently because I was not the skinniest girl. Yes, I wanted to lose weight solely for myself and my health, but that just gave me the extra push on days I didn’t feel too good about myself.

What is your 2018 New Year Resolution to maintain a healthy & fit lifestyle?
Selena DeLuca:
My 2018 New Year Resolution to stay healthy and fit is continuing to eat clean every day with my Diet-to-Go meals and detoxing. Diet-to-Go lets me pause my meals during the holidays via its online portal, and I notice I do not eat the best and I start to become very bloated. So I’ll go back to them after the New Year to shed those extra few pounds and bloat. I also would like to spend more time at the gym and try a new workout routine.
