Scherri-Lee Biggs Miss Universe Australia 2011. She is also a model, television presenter and charity ambassador is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You being crowned Miss Universe Australia 2011 on 7th July 2011, it propelled your professional career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of glamour. Tell us something about this fairy tale journey?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
Wow – where do I begin?? I have done so many amazing things over the last few years and had so many wonderful opportunities work wise. It changed my life completely. I’ve been lucky enough to sit at a small dinner with Sir Richard Branson, interview Top 10 Tennis Players and race around the Grand Prix track. Don’t get me wrong, my job can be hard work at times and it doesn’t go without the effort and time, but I do get to do some pretty incredible things.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are world leading media personality, fashion model, style icon, spokesperson, television star, charity ambassador and a brand ambassador. How you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
It’s just the best! I love doing something different everyday. One day I could be filming for the lifestyle show I work on, the next I could be interviewing Tennis Players at the Australian Open, and the next be slipping down a red carpet. My job and lifestyle is always exciting. It can sometimes be hard to juggle a career with no set schedule, but its always interesting.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
I love Pilates! Having had a dance background and having that muscle memory Pilates is my go-to exercise. The slower and more precise, the better. I also love to hit up a bit of boxing. Its great to get out some energy and frustration.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
I don’t believe in strict diets. They never work for me. I’m lucky because my Mum was always a great cook and healthy too. So I’m pretty good at whipping up a tasty healthy meal in the kitchen. I think the best things is to add as much colorful veggies to your plate as you can, eat good fats and steer away from processed carbohydrates. I do believe that moderation is key though… I love some cheeky dark chocolate and a glass of red on the side.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hairs. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hairs to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
I use mostly Image skincare products. I like something that’s going to work for my skin. Its hard when you’re working a lot, because TV makeup is very heavy and can clog my skin, so I like to use products that firstly remove as much makeup and dirt as possible and that repair and renew my skin. Otherwise I think drinking water is the best thing you could possibly do for your skin.
I am lucky enough to have a hair sponsor Oscar and Oscar who use Kerstase products on my hair and give me regular treatments. I also love getting a beautiful blow wave. Sexy hair makes you feel great no matter what.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You were schooled in dance and ballet and started to pursue a career in modelling at age of 16 years with Vivien’s modelling agency. How this helped you in winning the beauty pageant Miss Universe Australia 2011 ?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
I guess it all helped in some way. I was very relaxed through out the competition. Don’t get me wrong.. I worked hard, but I always felt confident and relaxed in my own ability. It was such an amazing experience. Shocking and scary at times, but over all, I had so much fun!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
How did you feel before and after your memorable win of Miss Universe Australia 2011 ?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs: Before the final, I was nervous but very excited. I had worked hard for it and felt well prepared. However I was so focused on the final that I hadn’t really thought of what it would be like to win the competition. It came as such a shock, but I was really honored and excited, but a little overwhelmed at times. It was such a roller coaster of a year. I learnt so much about the industry and myself. I wouldn’t take back a second of it.
Scherri -Lee Biggs on Women Fitness: Thanks for listening to me babble. Don’t give up on your goals and dreams. Keep shining 😉 .
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion model girls who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to ladder of success in the field of modeling?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
Stay level headed… Its important to remember where you came from and who you are as a person, not just your image. It’s also a tough industry, so keep trying and look for your niche. Everyone’s got a place, sometimes it takes a little time and effort to find what works for you. And keep smiling! Life’s awesome!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have done bold photo shoots. How you are so body confident and advice to your compatriots?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
Look I’m not the skinniest model around, but I certainly appreciate my figure for what it is and feel confident in it. I think that’s key to looking great as well.
If you feel confident in what you have, who is going to question that, and better still you don’t care if anyone does, because you feel great. Mind you. Like any other girl, I have my moments of self doubt. Keeping a positive mind can sometimes be the hardest thing to do, but the most rewarding.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have been associated with and is ambassador for the YGAP 5 cent campaign and a number of charities, which are all dear to your heart, tell us how you have been able to achieve and quench your thirst of giving back to the society through this endeavor of your?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
I’m so proud of the YGAP 5 cent initiative. They’re such hard working team and if I can help promote their message and help fund raise for their projects, its great. I also am involved with the Cancer Council here in Australia. I’ve hosted events and helped promote their messages. They are both causes I feel very strongly about and wish to continue campaigning for. I’d love to throw myself more deeply into these causes in the future.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You designed a swimwear line for Kooey Summer 12/13, “Scherri-Lee for Kooey”, launched at the Sydney Fashion Week in 2012. Tell us more about this venture of yours?
Ms. Scherri -Lee Biggs:
Designing my own swimwear line was such an amazing experience. They literally let me run free with all the designing and its such a great feeling to see something you created up on a stage at fashion week! I loved the creative aspect to it and haven’t put to bed the idea of designing again.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
