Diamonté Harper known professionally as Saweetie is an American rapper and singer. After the release of her debut single, “Icy Grl”, she was signed to Warner Bros. Records in partnership with Artistry Worldwide. She released her debut extended play, High Maintenance, on March 16, 2018.
Born in Santa Clara, she relocated to Sacramento, CA where she completed high school. She developed an interest for poetry which eventually led to her performing at open mic’s. This passion would lead her on the path to pursue her love for music. Saweetie attended San Diego state then transferred to The University of Southern California where she would graduate in 2016.
Women Fitness President is in conversation with the superbly talented rapper and influencer Saweetie.
Namita Nayyar:
You are a rapper, musician, influencer, student, fashion icon, CEO and philanthropist. Introduce us to your life as you wear so many hats?
Saweetie:
So many hats! I feel like my life is truly a dynamic of all of those things, and because I’ve become a “celebrity” later on in my life, I was able to experience the majority of my young adulthood as a normal person.
I’ve begun to understand the steps I took to get where I am today and because of that, I have spent a lot of time working towards what I am looking to achieve in the future.
However, music is my passion and foundation. It continues to open the doors for all of the other things that I’ve always found interest in and planned to do.
