Raquel Castro is an exceptionally talented American actress and singer-songwriter. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You was born on Long Island, New York. By age four, you were regularly appearing on Sesame Street and Nick Jr. At age of seven you became a breakout star playing the lead role in Kevin Smith’s feature film, “Jersey Girl”, alongside megastars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. At the age of 10, you were appointed the youngest correspondent ever for Entertainment Tonight’s Kid’s Choice Awards. You have worked in numerous films & television series and shows. Later your professional career propelled to the height when your first single was released in the music industry, a song titled “Diary.” Tell us something about this fairy tale journey?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
This industry is like riding a roller coaster. That’s the best way I can describe it. Especially starting at such a young age. You never know whats going to happen next. You may take a drop or you may be climbing to the top. I experienced success at such a young age, and then it went away for a little, and then came back and so on. As a kid that was hard to understand , but it made me who I am today. I think God had a plan and if I would have stayed in the lime light from age 7, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have selected a profession of acting, singing, song writing and television shows that requires a lot of hard labor, technical soundness and excellence in different faculties to finally succeed, how do you achieve that?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
Patience, trust in God, hard work and passion. You just really need to love what you’re doing. There was never a plan B for me.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
I try to stay on top of cardio by speed walking on a high incline on the treadmill. I also workout with light weights. Squats and lunges for the booty are my favorite. (haha).
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
Um, I try. However, I’m a foodie.. I like to eat what I want, but still be aware of what I’m putting in my body, and make sure I’m getting all the proper nutrients.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words for our inspiring and budding actress and singers who all are your fans, what should they do climb up the ladder of success in television and films?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
Don’t be a product of someone else’s imagination. Stay true to yourself. Work hard and put love into everything that you do. Stay humble.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
I ALWAYS take my makeup off before bed, and I moisturize every morning and night. Also, I don’t wash my hair every day. I usually do every other day, or every 2 days to let the natural oils flow and do its job.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us more about your memorable stage moment:”Performing “Lady Marmalade” with Christina Aguilera and her team?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
Hearing Christina hit her first note during rehearsals for the performance, gave me chills, and made me tear up. I literally had a moment where I said to myself, “You’re on the same stage as your inspiration since you were a little girl.” I can’t even tell you what was going on in my mind during the actual performance because I was on cloud 9, and my adrenaline was pumping a mile a minute.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You charmed the talk-show circuit appearing as a guest on “The Tonight Show ” with Jay Leno and “Ellen.” Tell us about this experience of yours?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
It was awesome. I was so young and innocent, and I had such a free-spirit. Sometimes I go back and watch the interviews, it reminds me of how lucky I am.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
On September 11, 2015 your new single “Young & Dumb” was released. Tell us more about this new music release? You will be appearing in the Fox hit Empire this season how has that experience been?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
I wrote Young & Dumb during a great period in my past relationship. I love that I get to express my feelings in my music. It took me a while to find a producer who got my vision musically so when I met Jon Kilmer, who produced Young & Dumb, it was like a breath of fresh air. I’m inspired by love, and I want my music to be real and relate able. I want it to be, that song that comes on, and puts you in a good mood. Super excited to share it with the world. Empire came from left field, I wasn’t expecting all of this to happen. I was actually working in a Hair Salon called “Paris Salon” in Long Island just to pay my bills when I found out about Empire. This is truly a blessing, and the timing is unbelievable. Life works in mysterious ways. I’m super excited about this journey and very lucky to be working with such an amazing cast.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are a singer/songwriter, actress How you are able to manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional, multi-faceted lifestyle?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
My family is super supportive. My brother is in the acting business as well. To us this isn’t work, its our life. We love what we do.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Elaborate how did you feel on winning for your role in the 2004 film Jersey Girl as Gertie Trinke, the daughter of Ollie Trinke (Ben Affleck) and Gertrude Steiney (Jennifer Lopez), the Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actress Age Ten or Younger?
Ms. Raquel Castro:
I mean I was like 9, so winning any type of award was awesome.
