Being on the Playboy cover is no big deal for Rania Pugholm, who has apart from being a Playboy cover star, has also been featured in top magazines like FHM India & FHM Sweden.
Women Fitness President Namita Nayyar talks to her about her incredible journey below.
Namita Nayyar:
Walk us through your journey in the modelling industry and tell us how it all began?
Rania Pugholm:
When I was 17 I met a photographer through a friend. Before this I had not really thought about modelling as a job, although I had always been fascinated by fashion and the modelling industry. The photographer talked me into getting some professional pictures done and before I knew of it, I was in number of magazines throughout Germany and had signed my first modelling contract. From there my career took off and then later moving to Dubai it took a turn towards not only fashion but also fitness, tv shows and a range of Ambassadorships for brands, events and the like.
Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to your schedule. What is a day like in your life?
Rania Pugholm:
My morning always start with a hot cup of coffee, black, no sugar – without that I am like a zombie in the morning :-). After a light breakfast it is typically off to the gym. After gym I typically have work to attend to – sometimes meetings, sometimes shooting, and from time to time also need to fit in hair and nails etc. In the late afternoon, provided I am not working, I often practice pole dancing before having dinner with my family or friends.

Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?
Rania Pugholm:
My exercise is never the same. I try to vary the exercises as much as possible. I generally follow a program that is focused on weights training for the larger muscle groups (legs is my absolute favourite) combined with high intensity circuit training and cardio days.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Rania Pugholm:
Actually I stopped doing diets all together as I don’t think they really deliver the results long term. Instead I am pretty focused on eating healthy and with clean produce. I typically eat often and smaller portions, and yes I do eat the occasional chocolate or cookie – but I dont eat lots of it, and only a little every time. Over time I have found that this approach keeps my weight balanced while still having the fuel needed to train hard.
Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?
Rania Pugholm:
I am a big fan of Korean face mask as skin treatment, while for day to day, I use the Dior skincare products. For hair, I am lucky to be sponsored by GH Hair Professional, and I cannot recommend them enough. I have tried a number of different brands over time, but this is clearly the best.
Namita Nayyar:
How do you feel has social media impacted the fashion industry?
Rania Pugholm:
I think it has opened the industry up and thus made it more accessible for models and designers alike. Today you can start with a strong social media profile and develop into a full blown runway model – while previously you had to be chosen. I think generally it is positive, competition is great and keeps you on your toes.
Namita Nayyar:
You have been the cover model for Playboy in 2017. Share with us your experience working for the magazine.
Rania Pugholm:
I love Playboy, and I am very happy to be part of the Playboy family. Working for the magazine really is a family of models through out the world and I have found that no matter where I travel, I now have friends excited to see me. I loved wearing the Playboy Bunny Suit, it is quite a magical experience.
Namita Nayyar:
Give us your top 3 Nutrition Tips to eat healthy?
Rania Pugholm:
- Always start with breakfast containing eggs and yogurt – lots of protein and good for digestion.
- Drink LOTS of water.
- Add vitamins to your diet. D3 for strong bones and reduced fatigue, B12 for increased energy and faster metabolism, and C as anti-oxidant and general immune system boost.
Namita Nayyar:
Share with us your Top 5 Must-Do Exercises to stay fit and healthy while on the go?
Rania Pugholm:
- Shuffle side squats
- Plie squats
- Push ups
- Abdominal crunches
- Single leg V up
Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding models, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of fitness?
Rania Pugholm:
I think the most important advice is to believe in yourself and stop comparing yourself with others. Beauty is many things and often people get caught up in only one version of it. The key to success is to love yourself, as when you do, your beauty radiates to others. Take time to appreciate what you have already achieved.
Namita Nayyar:
You have done several photo shoots for top magazines. What are your top five tips to rock a photoshoot?
Rania Pugholm:
- Get plenty of sleep before the shoot, it is often a long day and you need to stay fresh.
- Bring your own food/snack – often the food provided is not great, and you need to eat to keep your energy up.
- Keep your skin fresh – Korean face mask the day before and drink lots of water
- When on set, remember to believe in yourself and have fun – best pictures are made when you are relaxed.
- Prepare for the shoot by studying the brand or product that you are shooting for, so you understand what they want.
