Women Fitness President catches up with the designer talking all things fashion, fitness and food!
Namita Nayyar:
You are the sole designer of the couture fashion house “Radmila Lolly” and a singer of alternative classical music. How did you get started with these two vastly different careers?
Radmila Lolly:
Music was my base; first when I would listen to music, I would see fashion designs in my head, and I started to create pieces for my own shows. I was often asked who the designer was, but didn’t give an answer because I didn’t want to confuse anyone. One day I finally had enough of the questions and said “it’s me, I’m the designer!”. I decided to create a complete collection and perform at the same time; it became a hit and I started acquiring private clients. I will be opening my first brick and mortar store in Los Angeles in July of 2020.

Namita Nayyar:
What do you think are the 3 skills that are needed to become a successful fashion designer?
Radmila Lolly:
- Imagination
- Imagination

Namita Nayyar:
What does fitness mean to you?
Radmila Lolly:
Fitness is like a meditation to me; I work out at least 30 minutes a day, 7 days a week, because I believe it is a doable goal for almost everyone. When I used to work out 2 hours only 4 or 5 days a week, I quickly burned out and would stop working out. The way I do it now, it is definitely consistent. I haven’t skipped a day of working out since May of 2015. Even if I only exercise for 5 minutes, I will still do it; it is better than nothing!
Namita Nayyar:
What does your favorite workout routine look like?
Radmila Lolly:
I have a personal trainer, and we do 3 days a week of full body workouts. I like to supplement my gym routines with different types of exercise, so I also do one day of basketball, one day of tennis, and one day of yoga.
Namita Nayyar:
5 things we’ll always find in your handbag?
Radmila Lolly:
- Credit card and ID
- Mirror
- lipstick
- Keys
- Finger workout to help me with my piano and violin playing
Namita Nayyar:
Your first meal to kick start a day?
Radmila Lolly:
I would like to say fruit (my usual), but to be completely honest it sometimes is chocolate!
Namita Nayyar:
Your mantra to lead a healthy life is?
Radmila Lolly:
I always take a cold and hot shower in the morning. I am a vegetarian, which I feel makes it much easier to stay healthy, since there are less food options overall. I also don’t drink or smoke.
Namita Nayyar:
Having over 321K followers on your Instagram account, how do you feel about the impact of social media on this generation?
Radmila Lolly:
I feel that social media, like any other tool, is what you make of it; it is true that it can have negative impacts, but I also believe it is a strong tool for good and communication.
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your upcoming novelthat corresponds to your next self-composed album and high couture collection?
Radmila Lolly:
The biggest takeaway from my book is that what happens to us as children can affect us for the rest of our lives. We can be scarred on the outside, but we can also be scarred on the inside. The novel is based upon the lives of four main characters with very different backgrounds; all of their storylines eventually intertwine and converge by the end of the book. The book shows how seemingly small and insignificant actions can change the course of your life.
Namita Nayyar:
Your message for your fans at Women Fitness.
Radmila Lolly:
You are beautiful! Always remember that. Stay alive, and never think it is too late! We are ageless; it’s all in our head.
