Every year on 8th March the world joins hands together to support, raise, inspire and motivate women across all fields of work. The purpose of this day is to focus on various themes such as innovation, the portrayal of women in the media, or the importance of education and career opportunities.
The International Women’s Day 2018 campaign theme is #PressforProgress.
Note that individually, we’re one drop but together we’re an ocean. Commit to a “gender parity mindset” via progressive action. It’s time to collaborate to overcome gender disparity, so our collective action powers equality worldwide.
To rise against all challenges women need to healthy & fit. Make Sure to incorpoate this into your lifestyle.
- Try Something New
Have you always wanted to incorporate strength training into your exercise routine but didn’t know where to start? Have you ever wanted to try SoulCycle but you were too nervous to sign up for a class? Changing up your work outs can actually be good for your health and fitness, so seize the day and give something new a go.
- Schedule a Checkup
Book an appointment with a doctor or nurse for a well-woman checkup and any preventative screenings that might be eligible for your age group. Staying on top of any required tests and health concerns now can save you a lot of stress, time and money in the future. - Eat Healthy
Superfoods have been proven to fight diseases, boost energy and even help you live longer, so why not celebrate the day by starting the 31 Days of Superfoods challenge? It includes 20 recipes and a grocery list––so all the hard work is already done, you just need to grab the ingredients. Hydration is also a key component of a healthy diet. If eight glasses of water a day seems like a lot, try out these ideas to jazz it up a little without having to resort to sugary drinks that lack in nutritional value. - Call a Friend
Working out with a buddy has been proven to improve mental well-being, make exercise more fun and even increase weight loss results, according to a recent study from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. So call a friend and get each other motivated! Even just going for regular walks together can drastically improve your health and fitness.
- Listen to Your Body
Stop and listen to what you, your mind and your body need today. Try some relaxing yoga or a 5 minute meditation to help you be present, relieve stress and refresh yourself.
International Women’s Day is not country, group or organisation specific. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. So together, let’s all be tenacious in accelerating gender parity.
Collectively, let’s all Press for Progress.
