Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Perrine Laffont:
The primary goal for physical training for a high level athlete is to avoid injury, so I spend a lot of time doing corrective posture exercises and mobility so my body can move freely through all ranges of motion. Once this work is done I can move onto more compound movements: lots of functional exercises to develop strength balance and coordination.
Namita Nayyar:
What is your fitness routine in such pandemic times?
Perrine Laffont:
For the first lockdown we were in off season (rest and recovery time) after the winter so I did a lot of yoga just to recovery and to keep my body fresh. And for the other lockdowns luckily thanks to the French National Team and the government we were able to have access to the gym so we were keeping up with the gym sessions we do normally.
Namita Nayyar:
How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.
Perrine Laffont:
In my sport core strength is one of the most important components to being successful. Lots of forces are exerted on the body. Especially the oblique’s muscles need to be strong to keep the upper body facing down the fall-line whilst the bumps try to push the skier off course. Big functional moves like a farmer walk, Turkish get-up are great as the abs work hard to protect the spine during complexexercises like these.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Perrine Laffont:
I don’t have a strict diet I just try to eat as healthily as I can, to eat a lot of vegetables and fruit but sometimes it’s complicated whilst traveling or when you are staying somewhere where there is no good food. So that’s why I’m not too strict with my diet, I want my body to be ready to sometimes not eat good food and be able to quickly adapt. And to be honest I like to eat a burger or ice cream because sometimes it is just good for my mental health ahha!
Namita Nayyar:
Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.
Perrine Laffont:
Chocolate for sure, mango, raspberries, lasagna, peach! And for the foods I don’t like so much: brocoli, lamb, oysters, aubergine and leeks.
Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine. What special care do you take for both during extreme winter weather?
Perrine Laffont:
“Easy for hair” hair mask or oil applied once a week, left in over night. And for the skin once or twice a week whilst showering I do an exfoliating scrub and after when my skin is dry I use pink clay for a mask; that’s all! 🙂
