Namita Nayyar:
You have been a member of the Russian Speed Skating Team and had competed in many Championships and won. Tells how you were drawn to this sport of speed skating and your meteoric rise to be a member of the Russian Speed Skating Team?
Olga Fatkulina:
I started studying at the age of 9. Coach Svetlana Zhuravleva came to school and made a set for the section! I haven’t tried any more sports. After three years I realized that I could achieve success and stayed to win the speed skater.
Being in the Russian team was not a dream! This happens by itself when you are a leader. Without the team, I would not have been able to achieve everything in sports and in life.
Namita Nayyar:
You have won the Olympic Games Silver medal in 2014 at Sochi in 500 m, World Single Distance Championships, Gold medal in2013 at Sochi in1000 m, Silver medal in 2020 at Salt Lake City in1000 m, Silver medal in 2020 at Salt Lake City in the team sprint, World Sprint Championships Bronze medal in 2018 at Changchun in Sprint, Bronze medal in 2020 at Halmar in Sprint, European Championships Gold medal in 2018 at Kolomna in Team sprint, Gold medal in 2020 at Heerenveen in Team sprint, Gold medal in 2020 at Heerenveen in 500 m and many more. Tell us more about your experience of these spectacular exceptional achievements?
Olga Fatkulina:
When I realized that the Olympics would be in Russia, I really wanted to be better. I started working with a coach from Poland, Pavel Abratkevich. And we did a good job. After that, there were still victories, but not as bright as the Olympics. After that, the political games killed the spirit of the Olympian in me. I started treating sports as a job. For which I receive a salary. And I train with the motto do the job well or don’t do it at all.
Namita Nayyar:
