Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Kindly share your exercise routine and diet plan that you follow to maintain such a perfect physique?
Ms. Nia Shanks:
I wouldn’t say I have a “perfect physique.” My body is my body, and I love it because it’s mine and I’m grateful for the life experiences it allows me to have. Again, being lean and healthy is a byproduct of striving to be the best version of myself, moving in a way that makes me feel great, and getting stronger. Generally I perform about three total body strength training workouts each week, walk my dog a few times per day, and engage in as many outdoor activities as I can, depending on the seasons (e.g., hiking, kayaking, mountain biking).
And my nutrition is super simple. I eat mostly real foods, eat when I’m hungry and stop when satisfied (but not stuffed). For more detailed information check out my article, The Diet That Has No Name.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What according to you are the Top 3 Nutritional Tips for women to start with an easy fat loss program?
Ms. Nia Shanks:
First, forget about some fad diet that promises fast results. Your goal should be to develop simple, sustainable habits. After all, you want to not only lose weight, but keep it off long-term, right? Second, begin by changing just one thing, and do it every single day for 30 days straight. Something like eating a real food breakfast, or eating a good source of protein in each meal. Third, invest in tools that make cooking delicious, healthy meals like a slow cooker or blender.

Tell us more about your famous podcast – ‘The Nia Shanks Show’ ?
Ms. Nia Shanks:
It’s an extension of the articles I write, but it allows me to share the information in a different medium. It’s all about helping women become the best versions of themselves through discussions (and occasional rants) about health, fitness, and lifestyle stuff.
