Salma Hayek goes on ‘insect diet’

Salma Hayek took insect diet in order to have perfect physique, insects being her source of proteins. Salma Hayek’s latest Instagram video backs Shailene Woodley’s recent comment that bugs are “the future of food.” The 48-year-old actress shared an up close and personal video on Saturday, April 18, that showed her eating a cricket! Hayek opens her mouth to reveal the dead bug on her tongue before crunching it up and consuming it.

“These are crickets from Mexico, from Oaxaca, and they are eaten…” she explained to her 54,000 followers. Hayek then shared a photo of her mini-meal, writing: “Close-up of the crickets.” If this is her secret to looking this good in a bikini, we’ll take two! The Fools Rush In actress wouldn’t be the first A-lister to admit to eating insects. Divergent star Shailene Woodley also finds bugs to be a good source of protein. “I’ve eaten ants and that was great. And June bugs, that was great,” she told Nylon magazine. “I think the future of food is in insects, so we’ll see what happens.”
