Rihanna most-likeable star on Facebook & Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” shares her fitness secrets

Rihanna is reportedly under “24-hour health watch” after she, apparently, had a meltdown backstage at a late-November 2011 concert in Ireland.
According to reports Rihanna had a stress-related meltdown recently and has been put on a so-called “24-7” health watch to make sure she’ll pull through. I’m not a superstar, but I have had a meltdown or two in my time. And stress is always the trigger. Have you ever felt so stressed out you felt like you were losing it?
The 23-year-old pop star was on a 101-day tour right then, so no wonder she’s feeling stressed! And a post-show Tweet from the starlet hinted that she may have been having some stress-related breathing problems: “So light-headed! WTF!!!!!” she wrote.
When I get overly stressed, I’ve felt lightheaded and also (this is weird) scalp numbness. I’ve talked to my doctor about it, and the verdict is that our bodies react to stress in many strange ways.
According to the Huffington Post: “The Mayo Clinic reports that common effects of stress include headaches, chest or muscle pain, tiredness, upset stomach, trouble sleeping and even a change in sex drive. And stress can also increase anxiety, restlessness, feelings of anger, sadness and make you less motivated to do things or less able to focus.”
Rihanna’s Trainer Harley Pasternak has worked with more than 250 of Hollywood’s biggest stars, helping them sculpt and trim their bodies. So he shared his No.#1 fitness tip recently. He says:
“People always ask me if there was one thing they could do today to change the way they look and feel, what would it be,” he writes. “The answer is simple: Walk. To be exact, I want you to walk 10,000 steps a day.”
“Get yourself a pedometer. It’s an inexpensive device that fits in your pocket or clips on your pants and counts your steps. Recent research shows walking slowly throughout the day is better for burning fat than 45 minutes of intense cardio. So start parking your car a little further away, take the stairs, and get off the subway one stop earlier.”
While I’m a runner, I do appreciate walking, and try to get out for a walk with my husband and kids every night after dinner.
Rihanna’s personal trainer reveals how Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” gets her smokin’-hot body stage-ready.
Celebrity fitness trainer Ary Nuñez, who has worked with Rihanna for four years, told the US’ Shape that Rihanna’s workouts, which have to be squeezed into her hectic schedule, consist of a mix of martial arts, dancing, and calisthenics.
And the singer’s rock-hard abs? Nuñez said they focus on the core muscles, with exercises like sit-ups, rotations and planks, and do lots of repetitions.
Rihanna’s diet is also carefully crafted, with Nuñez advocating the food combining diet. “You shouldn’t mix starches with protein because there is an enzyme that exists for the processing of starches, and an enzyme that exists for the processing of protein and they don’t get along,” Nuñez says.
A typical meal for Rihanna consists of “fish with a salad or veggies,” said Nuñez.
Weight-loss coach Andrew Cate told Health & Wellbeing that there was no scientific evidence food combining works. “Most foods contain a combination of carbohydrates, protein and fat, and these nutrients are not designed to be separated,” he said.
“Your body secretes a variety of digestive enzymes that are more than capable of breaking down any food, or combination of ingredients.”
Rihanna is no stranger to showing skin, but her Vogue shoot, in which she rocks some undeniably sexy Jessica Rabbit red hair, may be the most tasteful body shots the pop star has done to date.
She frolics on the beach in a Lanvin silk dress blown over her thighs, and her curves are on full display in an Herve Leger one-piece as she strikes a back bend in some Alexander Wang open-toe booties.
Rihanna is in the best shape of her life after preparing for her role in the blockbuster ‘Battleship,’ and it shows. She’s given up her staples of junk food and pasta. Her trainer Ary Nunez has been strapping weights to her hands so she could multitask while working out.
“I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way,” Rihanna admits to the mag. “I hate anything that’s too straightforward, too routine. I get bored really, really quickly.”
Style has always mattered to the 23-year-old, but she has recently embraced a grown-up version of her funky, down-to-earth look that keeps beauty bloggers on their toes.
“When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else,” she says. “So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls. And I got desperate for things that weren’t available in Barbados. I would cut things out of magazines. I was obsessed with creating a visual with clothing, and the way things are combined.”
Her highly publicized breakup with Chris Brown, which included him pleading guilty to assault, hasn’t been the hardest part of the past couple of years for Rihanna.
Finding out her father, who was a crack addict when she was growing up, sold childhood photos of her to a tabloid magazine was much more painful.
“It really makes me question what I have become to my father. Like, what do I even mean to him?” she says. “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are part of him, for goodness’ sakes! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it. You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, Not my family. My father would never do that to me.”
