France probing 20 possible swine flu cases
Reported April 28, 2009
Twenty people are under observation in France for possible infection from the swine flu virus after visiting Mexico and the southern United States, French health authorities said on Tuesday.
A total of 107 people who have returned from the Americas since April 25 have reported flu-like symptoms, the head of the health watchdog INVS, Francoise Weber, told a press conference.
But only 20 of those remain under observation, suffering from “non-serious flu symptoms” of illness. The others have been given the all-clear by doctors.
Health officials have gone on international alert after Mexican authorities said an outbreak of swine flu was thought to have killed more than 150 people.
