Atlantic Station smoking ban passes
– Reported, June 8, 2012
ATLANTA- A proposed smoking ban at the mixed-use development passed Friday. The ban means that smoking will no longer be allowed in Atlantic Station’s common areas, including sidewalks and the Central Green green space.
Atlantic Station will set up designated smoking areas around its perimeter. They will be identified with signs that say “Smoking Spot.”
Atlantic Station first posed the idea of a smoking ban on Facebook, asking fans if they would support or oppose it.
“We asked the community what they wanted, and it was clear they supported a smoke-free shopping and entertainment experience,” Atlantic Station general manger David Anderson said in a statement. “We want Atlantic Station to be a place where families can enjoy themselves, and we’d love to see Midtown become an even healthier community.”
The ban will take effect in time for the BB&T Atlanta Open, which begins July 14.
