$20,000 worth of medical equipment donated to Anguilla through Rotary Club CANADIANS

– Reported, February 10, 2012

The West Parry Sound Health Centre, located in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, in co-operation with the Rotary Club of Parry Sound, is pleased to donate five defibrillators to the island of Anguilla through the Rotary Club of Anguilla.

Dr. Simmonds, who is the Chief Medical Officer, and Ralph Hodge, who is the Acting CEO of the Health Authority of Anguilla (HAA), were present at the recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Anguilla to accept this generous donation.
Rotarians Ralph Smith and Kitty Bucsko (RC of Anguilla) brought four of the units to the island with them in mid-November. A third Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Parry Sound, Karen Cox, will bring the fifth defibrillator with her when she arrives on the island for her first visit in early January.
Through a fortuitous circumstance, the five defibrillators were declared surplus at the West Parry Sound hospital in the spring. The CEO of the hospital, who is also the current President of the Rotary Club of Parry Sound, was able to offer the units to the Rotary Club of Anguilla. The defibrillators will be placed in the five local health clinics on the island, where they should prove to be valuable safety items of equipment for the health service in Anguilla.

This is one very good example of Rotarians working together to fulfill their mandate to make the world a better place. The Anguilla Health Authority, and the Rotary Club of Anguilla, pass along their gratitude to the Rotary Club of Parry Sound, and to the West Parry Sound Health Centre, for their generosity in making this donation possible.
