From the girl next door to becoming a Page three regular, Rhian Sugden rose to fame when she competed in the UK series of Celebrity Big Brother. With over 250,000 followers on her Instagram profile she has received a lot of love and appreciation for her modelling work and reality TV presence.
Women Fitness’ President Namita Nayyar recently got the chance to interview this stunner about her beauty essentials, fitness regime and eating tips.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are popular on Page 3, of The Sun Magazine and have appeared in a movie named Your Highness in 2011 and the reality show Celebrity Big Brother 10. Your journey in the modelling realm has been nothing but spectacular. Share with us the journey that you have had to make a mark for yourself in the entertainment industry?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
My journey has been a very fun one! It has been unplanned throughout and I have just taken every day as it comes. I come from a very small family in Manchester and we had nothing really. I have always worked hard for as long as I can remember.
From working in supermarkets from the age of 14 and even having two jobs on the go by the age of 16. When I started in the world of modelling I still kept (and still have) other jobs. When I get a successful casting/TV show/modelling job it’s an added bonus to my life but I have always made sure I don’t rely on the unpredictable life that self-employment brings. It can be stressful and a constant worry. That isn’t the kind of pressure I want to put on myself.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have been featured in popular magazines like Loaded, Zoo, Nuts and Maxim. What motivated you to transform into a model from a network administrator?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
I did actually love my job as network admin. I was good at it and felt very content. I think the problem was I was too content. I didn’t have any ambitions and I feared the unknown. I massively lacked in confidence. I held myself like a person that lacked confidence too.. skulking around, saying nothing and minding my own business. My boyfriend at the time thought it would be a nice idea to help boost my confidence and paid for me to have a set of professional pics taken. Make up done, hair done. The works. From that I just tried my luck one day and emailed Samantha Bond – which, at the time, was one of the country’s leading “glamour” agencies and miraculously I got signed up.
From then on my confidence sky rocketed and I finally found happiness in myself which I didn’t have before.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are a world-leading media personality and model. Provide us a glimpse into a day of your remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
A day in the like of Rhian. Hmm, well I will tell you it isn’t as interesting as you might think. When I am not working it is usually spent with my Mum who is one of my best friends and we go dog walking or shopping. I’m a bit of a secret nerd and love gaming and I have no shame in admitting I am addicted to GTA on the Playstation. I live with my hubs-to-be and we try and get to the gym every day and counteract that by eating out most evenings. Apart from that my multi-dimensional lifestyle is just like anyone elses.
If I am working it is normally in London or abroad somewhere so it mainly consists of ridiculously early mornings travelling up and down the country, getting glammed up for a shoot and then travelling back home resembling some kind of dishevelled drag queen haha.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Being a model, you need to maintain a lean & Healthy physique. Unfold the exercises that comprise your fitness regime on a daily basis? State your 5 favourite ab exercises?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
Getting out of bed has to be one of them? No seriously, I am trying to focus more on my core at the minute so…
Number 1 – would have to be the Plank.
Number 2 – Plank knee to elbow.
Number 3 – Lying down leg raise.
Number 4 – Russian Twists – these hurt!
Number 5 – Glute bridge march
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Nutrition is an integral part of looking good both on & off screen. What diet do you follow to stay healthy and physically fit? Share with our viewers your 3 favourite foods?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
Nutrition is my down fall. Crisps are my weakness. I don’t think it is sustainable for me to cut out snacks and treats. I wouldn’t stop myself from having what I want, I just try and have it in moderation. If I feel the urge to have something unhealthy, I will just make up for it the day after by eating healthy.
My three favourite healthy snacks are…
Avocado sprinkled with salt and black pepper
Banana and peanut butter bagel
Small portion of 85% dark chocolate – ok not so healthy but it certainly takes away any cravings for more sweet things.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
With a massive following of over 266K followers on your Instagram account @rhiansuggers you’re a social media sensation and an internet leading star. How does it feel to be a role model & an inspiration in influencing a healthy lifestyle of so many individuals?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
I wouldn’t class myself as a role model but influencing a healthy lifestyle or being somebody’s ‘body goal’ is always very flattering. Since I hit 30 I have noticed my body change more and more and it is very hard to keep in shape and keep everything where you want it to be. So it is very rewarding to see that people can appreciate the work that has been put in.
Social media puts a lot of pressure on women these days, keeping it real is the way forward. I am more than happy to post pics of me with a little pot belly after a heavy weekend. I think it is refreshing for people to show un airbrushed/retouched images – they aren’t real life and aren’t something that should be aspired too.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Being a well-established model, what would be your tips for an aspiring model who wishes to join the entertainment industry?
Ms. Rhian Sugden:
Sadly, the industry has changed a hell of a lot since I started. I have watched the glamour industry demise over the years so I wouldn’t advise anyone aspiring to be a page 3 girl to push for that dream. It is all getting banned. The lads mags have shut down and political correctness has gone wild. It’s a shame really. However, for aspiring models I would say go out and follow your dream. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. You have nothing to loose. Don’t let people’s negative comments get you down. You are only as beautiful as you believe.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
