The Spectacular Story of an Astonishing Cancer Survivor Megan Sullivan
Megan Sullivan, a 31-year old woman, travelled nearly
30,000 miles across the globe in just 13 days and
encountered three near-death experiences - she was
diagnosed with skin cancer, was caught in a car crash
and fell 50 feet off a cliff. All of this did not let
her spirits down as she still remains as strong as ever.
Four years ago, she made a vow to herself that one day
she would make it to the top. For the next three years,
that route was all she thought about and worked hard for
it. Last year, Megan was 2,000 feet up the climb when
she took a terrifying 50-foot fall which resulted in a
humbling failure and the loss of a dream.
One year later, Megan now knows that with this loss came
the opportunity to reset and explore a different path. A
realization that there is meaning even within our
greatest failures. Thats when she decided to take up the
breathtaking task of travelling the 7 Wonders of the
World in just 13 days.
Megan Sullivan is a courageous young lady and an avid
traveller. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar,
President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Very little is known about you,
except on the social media, that you took on a
courageous endeavour of visiting '7 Wonders of the
World' in 13 Days? Tell us more about your childhood,
what you do and this fairy tale journey?
Ms. Megan Sullivan: Currently living in San Francisco, I
am a Producer and Director of video content for global
brands with an Advertising Agency. When I am not working
commercially, I am working on my personal film projects,
climbing, traveling or all three at the same time.
Three years ago I saw a photo of Machu Picchu and knew
that I wanted to go there. After more research I
realized that it was one of the 7 New Wonders of the
World. Then had that light bulb moment where I thought,
"Wouldn't be cool, if I could visit all 7 in one trip
and document it in a cool way through video?!".
From that moment on I kept thinking one day I would do
it.
It took that month of bad luck to realize that it would
continue to be just a dream unless I took the steps to
make it into a reality.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You went to different places and
locations on your endevour to visit seven Wonders of the
World. For an individual traveler going to new places
with their own cultures, languages it must be difficult
and then to work out all logistics right. What advice
you can give to other travellers in a similar situation?
Ms. Megan Sullivan: It was an amazing opportunity to
experience the world. Jumping from country to another
continent within days of one another, you soon realize
that it becomes easier and easier to communicate with
anyone no matter what the language or cultural barrier
may be and that at the end of the day, we are all simply
human.
Traveling for me changes my perspective on life. With
every trip I learn something new about myself and of the
world to further develop a greater outlook on my life.
My advice is simple. If you have the time and the desire
to travel just do it you can make excuses forever, but
its always easier than you think and usually the
mistakes and mishaps turn into the best adventures.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are now world leading social
media personality, blogger, traveler and a cancer
survivor. How you manage such a remarkable
multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Megan Sullivan: It is all about time management,
setting your priorities and not sleeping!
