Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Mayling Ng:
I flexible diet which is counting macros, protein, carbs, and fats. I adjust it to my goals at that time, whether I’m building muscle or I’m leaning out for a film. I base my protein grams to every pound of body weight.
I hit around 140- 150 pounds depending if filming, but I’ll probably have my protein up to 150-170 grams just to maintain all the muscle I have. Because I’m naturally athletic, it’s a lot harder to maintain, and then I split the remaining fats are 40% and carbs 60%.
Namita Nayyar:
Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.
Mayling Ng:
Five foods I love are: my protein ice cream, shrimp burgers with a protein wrap, popcorn, protein pancakes, and low fat peanut butter with almond milk and peanut butter powder. These are my five staples and I have them when dieting down, filming and even tomorrow before my photo-shoot.
I always make my protein drink into ice cream. I crush it with ice and throw in some dark low-fat cocoa chocolate. I have that every day. It tastes like ice cream, but its low macros. All my tips are on my YouTube channel YouTube.com/maylingng
Five foods I want to keep to a minimum:
Dim sum, pizza, champagne, Malaysian curry, and Singapore chili crab.

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.
Mayling Ng:
I think glowing is from the inside out, so I take Vital Proteins collagen. I don’t take any products I don’t believe in and the collagen really help with my skin, nails, and the roots of my hair. I also use Aura Silk from facial surgeon Dr. Ben Talei which is a product made of 20 different essential oils. I use it as a night-time serum and I massage it into my skin, especially after a hard day on set.
For my hair, the biggest thing I do is a coconut oil wrap once a week. I go to the gym with a coconut oil wrap, I’ll have one on the whole day. Also, I don’t own a hair dryer or straightener, I wash my hair, put some Olaplex in, and then brush it through to let it naturally.
Namita Nayyar:
Five skincare myths.
Mayling Ng:
One myth I suggest is:
Creams and other skin care products claiming to work like Botox or dermal injections. There is no such thing. However, there are multiple really good non-surgical procedures that you can do that are really good. For instance, the radio frequency micro needling treatment called Profound RF can take years off your face and in certain cases result in looking like you had a lift without going under the knife. I did Profound with Ben Talei last year and the lifting effects are amazing and they still keep coming.
