Namita Nayyar:
Are there any insecurities you have? If so, how do you deal with them?
Lucy Clarkson:
At a young age, I was insecure about my height because I looked older than everyone else at school and most of the boys were shorter than me. As a tall person, you stand out even more, which can sometimes cause you to feel self-conscious and paranoid. I have now embraced being tall and love it. I feel it’s a blessing and an advantage, especially when I’m in the supermarket and need to get something from the top shelf, haha.
Namita Nayyar:
How do you feel about people leaving negative comments on social media about the looks of other people?
Lucy Clarkson:
This is infuriating for me. I hate bullying in any form, especially when it’s public. Social media has provided a platform for people to be seen and heard. Unfortunately, that also allows people to hate on others, and they don’t realize how hurtful and damaging that can be.
Namita Nayyar:
What was the most challenging thing you have faced in your personal life, and what did it teach you?
Lucy Clarkson:
The most challenging part of my life has been having a child and becoming a single mother. Co- parenting can also be challenging. As a result, I have learned how to be patient, but most importantly how to not react to negativity.
Namita Nayyar:
Who is your style icon?
Lucy Clarkson:
Vivienne Westwood. Her designs were incredible. As a model, I had the pleasure of working with her many times. As a 15-year-old, I was her muse and I worshipped her. As fashion’s queen, she reigned supreme. She loved my hourglass figure combined with my height, and she really appreciated that. My first runway show was for her when I was 16 years old, wearing 10 inch heels. It was the experience of a lifetime, for sure.
Namita Nayyar:
Top fashion tips for women on a budget?
Lucy Clarkson:
Thrift shops are amazing; you can find fantastic pieces for next to nothing, and you’re donating to charity at the same time. I am also a big fan of accessorizing. If you use different accessories, you can wear the same thing over and over again while making it look different each time.
Namita Nayyar:
Can you recall one of the most flattering compliments you’ve ever received?
Lucy Clarkson:
It was the time when I gave a makeup tutorial at a school in Florida and the audience said I was the nicest person they’d ever met. A person also commented that the beauty of my face pales in comparison to my energy and heart. That was a wonderful compliment to receive.
