Liz McCarthy is an exceptionally talented MMA fighter. She has won 105lb Budofights title, 110lb Tuff N Uff title, and 115lb FCFF title. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You made your amateur career debut in 2010, going on to a stellar 6-0 record which including three separate amateur titles. You turned professional in 2012 and later joined Invicta FC Atomweight division. You reached the pinnacle of success on defeating Cassie Robb in ICF 13 main event. What factors you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Liz McCarthy:
A lot of hard work and dedication. I train 4-5 days a week whether I am in fight camp or not, so I’m always working hard and improving.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have strong submission skills, including a win via flying triangle choke. Tell us about your fighting style that give you the winning edge in your fights?
Ms. Liz McCarthy:
I think being comfortable in all of my skills has contributed to my success. I try to recognize my weak areas after each fight and work to improve those because I want to be well-rounded so that I’m comfortable anywhere the fight goes.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
On May 16, 2014 you defeated Cassie Robb in ICF 13 main event at Great Falls, Montana, United States. Tell us about this winning fight and how did you feel on the winning?
Ms. Liz McCarthy:
The ICF card in Montana was a fun card to compete on, it was an all-female amateur & pro card. Cassie is a tough girl, and likes to close the distance and wrestle. We prepared for this, but Cassie is tough and fought hard, so the fight went to a decision.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Liz McCarthy:
I do a mixture of technique, strength training, and cardio throughout the week. I think strength training like lifting weights is important to add in because it helps strengthen everything so that your body can stand up better to the rigors of hard training.
