Ms. Namita Nayyar: What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a Fitness Model, Fitness Competitor, Media Personality and Bikini Champion ?
Ms. Lauren First: I have always been a self motivated type of girl and love having a full plate. With the vigorous workout and diet plan in addition to being a full time student at Kent State University in the Nursing Program, there are times where I find myself really pushing! It has given me the determination to excel in every aspect and be the best I can be at everything I set my mind to!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a perfect physique?
Ms. Lauren First: My exercise routine varies from time to time, especially if I am preparing for a competition or not. As of right now, I train 6 days a week with 5 days of moderate cardio following my lifts. Each day I focus on 1-2 main muscles groups for about an hour followed by 30 minutes of cardio. I try to focus on slow and controlled movements for the most effective results! My favorite areas to train are shoulders and glutes!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?
Ms. Lauren First: I believe that the most important aspect to achieving a better figure or seeing weight loss is by following a diet or meal plan! It’s easy to workout for hours, but the most vital part is what you put into your body! When getting ready for a show or photo shoot, I follow a strict “clean-eating” plan. I eat 6 meals a day every 3 hours apart! These meals will usually consist of 4oz of a protein source, a clean carbohydrate, and some green veggies.
I focus the majority of my carbohydrates before and after my workouts! My trainer allows me to have ONE weekly cheat to help boost my metabolism up even more (which I really enjoy!). This one meal provides me with the satisfaction of eating the things I’ve been craving for the week and it’s always fun to look forward to this one meal! There are so many approaches to sticking to a diet, but I found this has worked best for me!
